Gia POV
"I am tired! This is never ending. I hope its lunch break already' Cini sighed.
She was in marketing team, her profile was to search and schedule all the print advertising of the hotels of Wilson group. She had to search for the empty slots with all the magazine and newspaper houses, coordinate with them, get the final schedule ready and give it to design team, so we are ready by the time advertisement is due.
And it was my job to get those advertisements ready to go. All I had to do was sizing and resizing of the already prepared concepts, all thanks to Steve! He never allowed me to do conceptualizing and designing.
But I was ok with it.
Cini was not; she told me to go and ask Steve, but I was never up for it.
I was never the one to counter questions and demand the answers. That's how I was, always accepting things and adjusting with situations.
"Let's go for lunch" Cini said, not able to take it anymore.
"What you got today?"
I beamed at her with full smile
"Mac and cheese with baked beans"
Her eyes widened when she listened, making me laugh at her reaction.
Now she was totally impatient, grabbing my hand and pulling me up.
"Let's go, let's go" she pleaded
"It's not one yet" I reasoned.
"It will be by the time we reach there"
She made it sound as if we had to go to the other end of town.
Finally giving in, I collected my lunch and started walking towards the cafeteria on the floor above.
"You know right, I am friends with you, so that I can share you awesome lunch" Cini giggled.
"That's not true" I knew she was kidding.
"Let's go to the corner table, I am not sharing that with anyone!" She said with serious face
We went to the far corner of the cafeteria and took our seats. Cini opened my lunch and had a spoonful of stuff in her mouth.
She closed her eyes and moaned, taking in the taste.
"You are the best cook in this world," she said with amazement.
"Thanks" I said, actually I do love cooking. So, it was a good compliment for me.
Looking at here reaction, one guy across our table came over.
"Hey Cini, what have you got? Looks tempting"
Cini instantly crossed her hand over the food and told him to go away.
"It's nothing, just go away"
"Now now, don't be so rude, lets see what it is"
He, too, took a spoonful of my lunch, wow, here goes my lunch.
"Wow not bad Cini, I didn't knew, you could cook"
"She cooked it, now back off" she said signalling towards me.
William, then, noticed me, wondering if I was there all along.
"Hi, I am William from admin department" he said offering me his hand.
"Hi, Gia from design team" I shook his hand and let go of it really fast.
With that little introduction, he went and sat on his table.
Cini passed me her sandwiches, not giving my lunch back.
I just smiled at her childish behavior, and ate her lunch.
After lunch, we came back to our floor and resumed with work.
As Steve and me were discussing something, we heard yelling and shouting from the reception table. Then there was a loud noise of China glass breaking.
All the heads turned to look for the cause of commotion.
Then a guy walked in. He was drunk and was unable to balance himself. His hair was all messed up with a long beard, you could hardly make out his eyes in there. While walking across, his eyes fell on me. I stared back at him, wondering who was he.
He somehow managed till the cabin stumbling through the floor, went inside that cabin and locked it.
Everyone was looking at him petrified
I was shocked, how did this person come through security. Why no one was stopping him. I first thought he was some guest at the resort, who forgot his way here in his drunk state. But no one seemed to be bothered to throw him out of office.
All of them started with their work as if nothing happened.
Steve too went away to his place in the middle of our discussion.
Julia the receptionist was crying hysterically after that guy yelled at her.
Cini went to console her, she was friends with everyone.
The cabin he went to it was facing my cubical, I always wondered how it was empty every day. It belonged to some Richard Hanks, Chief Architect and Director, as the name plate indicated. But this Richard fellow never bothered to come to office.
This guy, whomever he was, his eyes were so intense and sad when he looked at me.
It seemed I was still staring at those gray stone eyes.
