Waking up the beast

1688 Words
The soft crunch of footsteps on the snowy land follows Amadeus; after a long sigh, he stops walking. “Do you need anything else?” He asked. What pushes man to overcome his fear against the impossible, people are incredibly stupid, but our desires will win as always. Everyone has it. Some are hidden, but they will eventually find their way out. Bran’s desires, love? Revenge? Honour? Whatever it was, it got out. Bran struck his desires at Amadeus in the appearance of a silver dagger. “Lately, I’ve been talking with a witch; she told me that there is a monster lurking inside and when the root of evil gets out, I would barely stand a chance, and I would die. She told me all the things that I should do,” Bran said. Bran struck the silver dagger at his unprotected side. The Godsbane potion coated in the blade enters Amadeus’ body, poisoning everything inside, even the one hiding within. “Show us your true self!” Bran said. “Do you want to wake up the beast? You will die,” Amadeus said in an exasperated voice. “No, I want to put the beast into an endless sleep,” Bran said. The Godsbane has started to work, abnormalising Amadeus’ blood, crippling his strength and his control. Ever since that fateful night, I have never felt this pain, he thought. Hello, my old friend, you have returned, but you are nothing I can’t handle! “I’m glad you are there to make me feel more alive!” Amadeus yelled! “God damn it, Bran! This isn’t even the plan.” Fahrer said as he rode towards Bran. “Let’s do this anyway!” Hoch said, following his direction. “What’s happening! Why are you fighting him now?” Axar yelled. Hoch and Fahrer ride to Bran with their concealed silver dagger coated with the Godsbane potion made for killing a God. The effect it could create inside Amadeus’ body is agonising. Amadeus’ eyes resolve back into a blood hunger as he loses control of the beast inside. He glares at them viciously. His body enlarged, tearing some of his armour in the process. His skin darkens; the once nails in his hands are now long, sharp claws. Seeing the man who wakes him up in front of him, he delivers his monstrous claw towards his face. “Bran, get away!” Fahrer shouted. The Godsbane saves Bran as it alters Amadeus’ claw back to normal otherwise it would kill him instead Amadeus’ hand slapped him. Bran twisted and plummeted to the snow on the ground. Amadeus returned to his human form with his armour torn off; he clutched his chest and stomach from the internal pain that soon followed; with his legs trembling, he struggled to stay standing. “What is going on? What is this?” Amadeus let out. Fahrer jumped from his horse with a dagger in his hand and tried to stab Amadeus. Before the silver dagger reaches, Amadeus recovers as he shoves Fahrer, hurtling him away as he tumbles on the snow. Hoch successfully snuck at Amadeus behind with his silver dagger; he pierced Amadeus’ back, sending Amadeus crying in pain. Hoch twisted the blade inside before pushing the edge sideways, greatly wounding Amadeus. “You dare spread your disease in our lands!” Hoch said. Bran recovers as he hurries to where Fahrer plunged. He helped Fahrer to a stand. “Where’s the rest of the Godsbane?” Fahrer asked. “Lady Munzen has it safe!” Bran said. “Well then, get to her now! We are ending this. You were stupid Bran, but I damn hope you are right!” Fahrer said as he gazed at Bran with an acknowledgment of his bravery. Bran nodded in agreement; he ran to the nearby horse as he grabbed the reins. Bogen Longrider took his hand. “Please take me with you!” Bogen pleaded. He looked back at Fahrer to ask for permission. “Go! We’ll be fine without that coward. Be haste!” Fahrer said. “Alright get on then!” Bran said as he mounted the horse with Bogen. They rode away towards the Masse village. Amadeus, on the ground with his uncontrollable transformation, pushes the land with his human hand and the other enlarged hand of the beast. His reddened views as he looks at his fresh prey. Amadeus howls in the cold air as his body continues to morph. Amadeus’ face moves like water as it alters to an ugly creature. His enlarged ember red eyes. His mouth wide open as if he plans to devour them all and their world to a crumble with his tongue protruding. The creature of the night, Amadeus, has transformed into a gargoyle. His deathly voice came from the most bottomless grave. “You puny creature! You dared to try and kill me? I’ll goddamn splat your sorry face to the ground!” Amadeus said. He bends his body forward as he extends his massive arms before his bat-like wings burst out. “I that is so great and powerful and was granted with this immense power! Without me, you will all be dead by now! You owe your life to me!” Amadeus announced. Amadeus’ bat-like wings swing at them, pushing everyone at a distance from its force. The soaring chilly winds turn their legs to tremble with the fear creeping into their hearts. “How would we be able to defeat him?” Axar said. “Are you crazy, we can’t! I don’t know why Master Fahrer and the others attacked him!” the warrior said. Amadeus hears their doubts as he continues to grasp their frightened hearts. “You should have prostrated yourself in front of me and I will be the judge of your life!” He ordered. “He’s right!” “Come on!” “Stop! Don’t listen to him! Amadeus was the one causing the disease in our lands, the one making our loved ones sick! He’s killing us from the start! But we can fight him now with a special potion, the Godsbane, our blades, all our weapons are coated with it,” Fahrer yelled. “Is that so?” Amadeus said as he glared at Fahrer. “He’s weakening! I’m sure even steel would hurt him! We have a plan. Get ready, brave warriors!” Fahrer said. The Longrider warriors heed to his command as they prepare their bows and arrows. While a bull-like horn grows in Amadeus’ head, his bat-like ear twitches, and his fangs gritted upon hearing the words, “Weakening?? Should I kill you now?” Amadeus asked. “Your body is trembling. You can’t even remove the dagger that Bran pierced in your body! It is rooted inside you, am I right? You can kill us, but we can-” Fahrer said. Before Fahrer could finish, Amadeus, who has become a gargoyle, jumps in the air in front of Fahrer as he kicks him. Fahrer’s body plunges to the snowy lands, breaking his arms from the hard stumbles he suffered. “F*ck you!” Fahrer said as he coughed blood. Amadeus hovered above them with his bat-like wings. “You didn’t let me finish,” enduring all the pain as he stood up, “Just want to say, we can kill you as well!” There was a fire in Fahrer’s eyes as he ordered his men, “Men, ready your bows!” Seeing Fahrer’s bravery, the Longrider warriors grips their strength as they armed their bows. “Are you all this eager to die!?” Amadeus yelled. It was dark and cold, and the wind was restless. Hoch’s only right eye stared at his target’s head with a spear in hand. He sends the spear directly at Amadeu’s ugly head. “You think that will work again?” seizing the spear’s head before it could reach his eyes. “Think again!” Amadeus said. “I was hoping it will, you ugly beast!” Hoch said. Amadeus broke the spear for all of them to see, only to lose control once more, transforming some parts of his body back to human. Seeing this as a chance, Fahrer ordered. “Fire, men! Shoot at the monster!” The warriors followed as they fired their arrows along with their fear towards Amadeus. The gargoyle Amadeus growls in fear; seeing the arrows in the air, he waves his wings, hastily repelling the arrows before they could reach him. Fearing for another shot, Amadeus soared higher above the sky, gazing over them as he prepared to dive, but one thing stopped him. At the edge of his enlarged vermillion eyes is a bright light. Unforeseen dread crept all over his beastly body as he became aware of the fact that the blazing light was coming from his home. Forget everything! They are the only thing that matters, he thought. With his blistering heart, he soared the snowy air, whizzing as he pierced the sky with every flap of his wings. “Call your horses! Be haste! Amadeus is escaping!” Fahrer said. They were basked with a robust cold breeze as soon as Amadeus left. “Where do you think he’s going?” The warrior said. “I don’t know! But this must end tonight! Otherwise, we won’t see any sunlight again,” Fahrer said. Amadeus couldn’t believe his blazing eyes. Did the bandit get there? Did I miss someone? I could hear every one of this f*cker why I couldn’t listen to them both! He pondered in his head. In Amadeus’ eyes, his house is burning.
