The car ride back was heavier than Freya expected. Silence stretched between them, but not the kind she was used to with Daniel. This silence carried weight, charged with unspoken questions and the subtle friction of something neither of them wanted to acknowledge. Freya kept her eyes on the road ahead, forcing herself not to look at him. She could still feel the warmth from when their arms brushed earlier, as though her skin remembered it more vividly than it should have. Daniel, on the other hand, sat back with his usual composed demeanor, but inside he wrestled with thoughts that unsettled him. His mind replayed that moment in the ice cream shop when their eyes had locked. He hated how it lingered. It wasn’t supposed to. She was his employee, nothing more. He had no business noticing
