(Aurora's POV)
I woke up and took a quick shower. I looked at my phone and noticed that Erin had texted me. She wanted to have a girl's day today. She wants to go shopping and watch a movie at her house tonight. Wow, if I agreed to hang out with Erin, I'd be hanging with an actual wolf. That could be positive. I mean, at least I'll be safe with Erin. But that could also go both ways. I know she'll never hurt me, but she'll snap me in half if I ever get her angry. I looked at my door when I heard a knock and saw my Aunt Freya entering my room. I gave her a hateful look.
"Aurora, where were you last night? We were all worried about you," Aunt Freya said.
"I'm 17 years old, Aunt Freya; I'm allowed to go out." I scoffed.
"You're still a kid, Aurora. And since when were you out? Last time I checked, you enjoyed yourself indoors with your family." Aunt Freya said.
"Moving around the United States has changed me, especially after finding out my parents kill people for a living." I crossed my arms, glaring at her.
"Werewolves, Aurora. Werewolves!" Aunt Freya corrected.
"They're still part human," I argued.
"And they're also wolves. They are fiercely savage and can turn on you in a blink of an eye." Aunt Freya argued back at me.
"Whatever, I don't have the time or patience to deal with your s**t today." I pointed at the door, telling her to get out.
"Look, I don't want to fight you." Aunt Freya said.
"That makes one of us," I growled.
"Aurora, you can't stay mad at me forever." Aunt Freya scoffed.
"Watch me, I'm a woman, auntie, and I can hold a grudge till the day I die," I smirked.
"Well, I was going to go shopping," Aunt Freya said. "We might even visit Kiara on the way." She then added a smile after she spoke.
Crap, she knows me too well. I would never pass up an opportunity to go shopping with Freya. And she also had to throw in the 'visit Kiara' card. "Okay fine." I surrendered. "But this doesn't mean you are off the hook."
"I knew you couldn't say no, making this day even more exciting. Now finish getting dressed and we can get going." Aunt Freya smiled and left.
I texted Erin, telling her that I needed to deal with family things and that we could reschedule. She texted back, saying it was okay and we could go shopping another day. Aunt Freya drove us to the cemetery and went to Kiara's grave. This place is meant to bring me peace and comfort. This place should be where I can pay my respects to my sister. But now, all I can feel is my father's wrath. Towards wolves, towards me, towards Titus.
"Aurora, is everything okay?" Aunt Freya looked at me.
"My father ruined this place for me. I'm supposed to respect my sister and have nothing on my mind except her. Kiara probably hates me right now. But now, all I think about is that night," I said.
"Honey, Kiara does not hate you. She loved you so much; you were her daughter--" My face grew pale when he said that word.
"Excuse me, what?" I blinked fast.
Aunt Freya giggled. "Come on, We always joked about you being her daughter. She was that much older than you.
"Oh. I guess I didn't know much about the inside jokes back then. I'm sure there'll be plenty of time for that. We should go; you did say we had shopping to do." I said, and Aunt Freya nodded, and we continued our day. After shopping, we headed to a nearby cafe.
Spending the day with Freya was so amazing. Spending time with her reminded me of everything we did together when I was little. Kiara, Freya, and I used to be very close, but none of us have been the same since Kiara died. Freya went off to do her own thing, and I stayed behind. I do miss the old times we shared. "Auntie, may I ask a question? Why did you leave? After Kiara's death, why did you vanish?"
Aunt Freya breathed shallower and shuddered. "After your sister died, it was hard for me to accept. I couldn't be around anything that reminded me of her, including you, Aurora. Leaving you is my biggest regret and shame, and I'm so sorry. I missed so much of your life, and I know I will never get it back." Aunt Freya cried. "I'm here now, and I am not leaving anytime soon.
"I miss you, Auntie, and I'm happy to hear you say that. There have to be stories you're dying to share with me! So, what has my aunt been up to for all these years?
Freya smiled. "There are many stories to tell, but I will have to save them for another day. I'm going to go to the bathroom. It won't be long, and we can head back home."
"Wait, how did you know Kiara?" while I waited for Freya to exit the bathroom, a strange woman approached me and mistook me for my sister. She ran away, but I caught up with her before she could leave the cafe.
"I'm sorry, but it's not my place to say. I can't be seen talking to you." said the young woman. She looked around and looked at me. She looked scared out of her wits. "I have to go. I'm sorry. I wish I could." She ran out of the cafe in a flash. What the hell just happened?
"Okay, Aurora. I just paid the bill so we could get going. Ready to go?" Aunt Freya said, and I nodded at her.
(Later That Night)
I was in my bedroom looking at family pictures, but that lady kept popping into my mind. Who was she? How did she know my sister? She looked at me like a ghost, terrified just talking to me. I can think about all this crap tomorrow, and I'm tired. Just as I plugged in my phone to charge, I received a text from Titus. He's so sweet that he can't wait to see me tomorrow.
Kiara, what was your life like before you died? What secrets did you carry to the grave? What kind of people did you get affiliated with? A wise man once said that the truth will always reveal itself in time.
(Freya Armstrong's POV)
"Freya, what was she like today?" Joesph asked me. God, he is straight to the point. No time wasted.
"Aurora still hasn't forgiven you for what you've done. She wanted Kiara's grave to be a place to grieve, but you wouldn't let her have it. She's scarred from that place," I said with my voice laced with annoyance.
"Don't place the blame on me, Freya. Only one species holds all the blame, which is why Kiara is dead, not me." Joesph spat.
"And those filthy dogs are going to get what's coming!" I said, agreeing with him. "Kiara will be avenged. I promise you that."
"I don't want Aurora to be in pain; she doesn't deserve to go through any more loss," Nicole said.
I scoffed at Nicole. "Oh, please, Mother! Since when have you cared about any of your kids?"
"Freya, you have no right to speak to your mother like that," Joesph said.
"You both weren't parents to us. So don't pretend you care now. The only reason I'm doing this is for that girl in there. And the love I have for my sister!
