(Titus's POV)
"So, this is your hideout, huh?" Jack said. He looked at me and smiled. "How did it go with Aurora? Do I hear the wedding bells?"
"She's not a wolf; she's human," I replied.
"Oh, shit...is that even possible?" He asked me
"I don't know," I said with frustration. "I'll do some reading on it later. In the meantime, we are not going to tell her anything. We can't just walk up to her and tell her that we're wolves and we're not going anywhere near her, and we're going to ignore her and pretend she doesn't exist."
"Whoa, whoa, whoa...WHAT?!" Jack gasped.
"I don't need a mate, Jack," I growled.
"Titus, you'll be King soon," Jack said, telling me the obvious.
"That doesn't matter." I crossed my arms.
"How do you expect to rule without your Queen? Titus, this is serious." Jack yelled.
"I'll make it work." I shrugged.
"Okay, and what if you get hurt?
"I got hurt before," I growled.
"It's going to be different now, Titus. You've found your mate; the mate bond has already started." Jack explained.
"As soon as your eyes are on your mate, the bond starts; it changes you."
"I feel fine," I said
"No, you d**k. When you get hurt, your wolf won't heal the same. Your mate is the only one powerful enough to help your wolf get through it. You're going to drive yourself into insanity without her near you."
"Jack, you said so before; I will be King. I'm going to be just fine without her.
"Titus, you're not getting it." Jack made a fist. "You need the mate bind to be at your most powerful, mentally and physically. Your mate is the only one who can help you lead a whole pack, like every werewolf in the world. The Crescent Wolves will need their Luna, and the wolves will need their Queen." Jack explained with bitterness in his tone.
"I know that, Jack, but-
"We need to come up with another solution," Jack said.
"I will not put her life at risk to serve my needs!!" I said, and Jack gave me a smug look. "What?"
"It's already started." Jack laughed.
"What the hell are you talking about?" I spoke
"You say you don't want her, yet you want to protect her." Jack continued his smug glare.
"I couldn't care less," I said.
"Alright, I'll tell your father she's a Werewolf Huntress. I wonder how she'll look between your father's teeth."
Soon my blood boiled, and my eyes turned gold. "If you touch Aurora, I'll rip your f*****g throat out!" I breathed in deeply. "I stand by my decisions, Jack. I can't tell her we're wolves."
"Very well, Titus, I'll let this go. Only if you admit I was right and you have a soft spot for your mate?"
"Like hell, I'm doing that."
"I wonder what Erin would think about this plan?"
"You wouldn't," I growled.
"Erin? Baby?" Jack said through the pack link
"Hey, baby, what's up?" Erin answered.
"I need to ask you something about Aurora."
"OKAY, OKAY, you're right. I'm freaking melting at the thought of Aurora. I want to grab her in my arms, embrace her, and protect her from anything who wants to touch her.
"Hey, was that Titus?" Erin asked.
"Yeah, we just wanted me to ask how Aurora did during tryouts," Jack said.
"Tell him she did great! She's got talent, and what a tight rocking body she has." Erin giggled.
"Will do; I love you." Jack blushed.
"Love you too, baby; come home quick. I have a special gift for you," Erin said.
"Titus, you did well. I've never heard a king talk about his feelings the way you just did." Jack grinned.
"I'm going to f*****g kill you. Just you wait." I spoke
"Looking forwards to it. But I warn you, Titus, this will come back to bite you in the ass, affecting everyone. Not just you."
(The Next Day)
The next came fast, and during class, I saw another member of my pack talking to my mate, which pissed me off. Goddess, I hate feeling these feelings. "I liked it better when Danny sat next to her."
"Okay, class, I got your results from your drafted assignment. I am very disappointed with the work effort you all put into this. These assignments you all turned in are horrendous; never in my 25 years of teaching at Avalon High have I seen such laziness. Because of this outcome, I will be rearranging your seats. Please listen carefully to the names I call out; you cannot change until I say so." Mrs. Chesterfield said, "Okay, Tyler and Sadie, Malia and Julie, Jack and Erin,
"Yes!" Jack said as I rolled my eyes at him.
"And lastly, Titus and Aurora." Oh, you have got to be kidding me.
"HELL YES!!!" Jamie howled.
"Hi," Aurora said as she sat next to me.
"Okay, just because we have to sit together doesn't mean we have to talk to each other," I said coldly.
She was taken aback by my hostility. "I have no idea what I have done to make you hate, but-
"Shut up; I guess you didn't understand me when I said we didn't need to talk to each other. You don't speak to me, and I will gladly not speak to you, are we clear?
She gave me a look of hate and rage. She didn't speak. "Good!" I turned away from her. I can't believe I just did that. I could hear Jamie whining in the back of my head. It broke everything in me to talk to her like that. Ugh, what the hell is wrong with me?
(Aurora's POV)
I stood in the hallway after class; I could feel a tingle in my chest. A warm feeling surged through my body like it had the first day I was there. I saw Titus staring at me. Ugh, what does he want? f*****g d**k. I wondered who the girl was talking to him; she looked like some cheap floozy. She had to be his girlfriend. Why do I care? Wait, I think that's Sadie, the other cheerleader.
"Bye, Titus, I'll see you around," Sadie said, and she walked away.
I stared at him, and he stared right back. But then Tyler appeared and knocked me from my focus. "Hi, Aurora, you're gorgeous today." As Tyler talked to me, I saw Titus continuing to stare; why did he keep staring?? He ran away yesterday, and he was rude in class today, and now he's just staring? God, he is so annoying.
"Uh, Aurora. Are you okay?"
"Huh?! Oh, uh yeah. What were you saying again?
"I was just checking if we were still on for tonight? Tyler said
"Oh yeah, totally still on. Pick me up at 8. See you then."
"You shouldn't hang out with him after school," Titus said, approaching me. Tyler nodded and walked off. I looked at my phone for any calls from my parents, and nothing popped up. I know it's been a few days, but they should at least check on me so that I know they're okay.
"Excuse me?" I scoffed. "Wait, how did you even hear us? You weren't even close enough to---
"Just don't hang out with him." He spoke in a deep voice.
"Why?" I pressed him for a reason.
"Please, Aurora, just trust me." He spoke
"Okay, dude, back off. One moment you are running away from me like I'm some freak, then you're rude to me during class, and now you have the goddamn nerve to tell me not to hang out with Tyler? What is your deal, Titus??"
"Please, just trust me on this."
"Leave me alone, Titus." I stormed off after I slapped his face. "d**k!"
(Later that night)
"I hope you like romance films, Aurora. I picked this out myself."
"A romance? Seriously? "Yeah, sure, sounds good." I saw someone familiar, and it was Titus with one of his friends. You have got to be kidding me. Why the hell is he here?
"Shall we go inside?" Tyler asked.
We went inside the theater, and when the movie started, I had NEVER been so f*****g bored in my entire life. Romance Tyler? Really? I knew Titus was sitting behind me. The boys in this town must really like their romance films, not that anything is wrong with it. I don't like them.
After the movie, I ran into Titus gain, much to my displeasure. "So, are you enjoying yourself with the school's d**k?"
"Yes. Tyler has been nothing but sweet all night." I spoke
"Aurora, is he bothering you?" Tyler said.
"No, we were just having a conversation," Titus said.
"I wasn't talking to you, scum."
"You want me to come over there and knock your stupid face in?"
"I would love to see you try!" Tyler yelled.
"I'll be able to rearrange your face with one punch."
"THAT'S ENOUGH!!" I yelled, "Tyler, I will meet you in the car."
"You heard her leave," Titus growled, and he left.
"YOU! What the hell is wrong with you? You are confusing the crap out of me. One minute you tell me not to talk to you, and then you're being all big and tough because Tyler's talking to me? I can't keep up with you, Titus; what do you want from me?" I screamed in his face. "When you find out what you want, let me know. Until then, just leave me alone."
(The Next Day)
The next day, after school. Erin kidnapped me and took me to the shopping mall for her party this weekend. I have no idea how she knew where I was or how she got my number when she told me. But anyway.
"What store do you want to check out first?" Erin asked me, "OH, don't answer that I know the perfect place!!"
"These dresses will look amazing on you. I'll grab a few for you to try on. I'll be back", Erin ran off as I smiled and shook my head. I hope her style isn't too revealing. She came back
"Girl, look at those legs!". Where the hell have you been hiding those? Erin asked me while holding her phone to her ears. "Go try on the others."
I assume she is talking to someone. I tried on another outfit, and it was a bit revealing. "WOW, you look hot!! Look at these! This tank top makes your titties look perky. Try on this outfit." Erin said,
I put on the last dress and saw that Erin had a sad look on her. She put her phone back in her purse. I wonder what the call was about when she was talking. "Erin, is everything okay?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, totally. But this blue dress, girl, you are killing it with these outfits!! I have amazing taste in fashion! Okay, what the hell? I'm getting all of them!" Erin boomed.
"What, no, I can get them," I said, insisting that she didn't need to pay for them. I have the money.
"Aurora, it's fine; that's what friends do. Now go get changed while I pay for these bitches." Erin smiled, and I went into the changing room.
(Titus's POV)
"Titus, you can't let her go like this! At least try to--" Erin said, but I stopped her.
"Erin, just leave it." I stormed off in a hurry.
Jack sighed. "I'll go talk to him, Erin."
I was in the school gym, punching a boxing bag. That piece of crap. Why does everyone have to be around Aurora? Tyler doesn't take any interest in girls; he only wants one thing. If he touches her, I'm going to f*****g kill him. His body will vanish. In a tragic animal attack, humans would be none the wiser. Humans are f*****g stupid.
"Titus..." I gave the boxing bag one final hit before tearing it in half.
"WHAT?!?!"
"Dude, calm down. Your eyes, Titus, your wolf is coming out." Jack warned. "Come on; we're going for a run. I think Jamie and Oliver need it, especially with the mates we've ended up with."
I laughed at him and nodded. We went to a secured area in the forest, where we used to hang out to hide from the older wolves from the pack. "Remember coming here when we were younger?" I asked Jack.
"We used to sneak out of fighting sessions to come here. We haven't been here since the moment we had to train with our fathers to learn our role in the pack.
"That long, huh?" I said, "Now, are you ready for that rematch you wanted from that fight all those years ago?
"You mean the one where I fell flat on my ass?" Jack said.
Before we could start fighting, Erin called us home. What a mood killer. We both turned to the packhouse. "What up, sis?
"What's up?" She scowled. "Our 18th birthday is in two days; that's what's up." I rolled my eyes at her tantrum. "Not only are we having to plan and set up the biggest party of the year, but you will soon be named Alpha AND crowned King of the Werewolves."
"Erin, relax! Everything will proceed as planned!" I spoke
"By that, you mean everything will be fine? How will everything be fine? My brother will be King; that's enough to be stressed. You two better not be late for any of these, or I will kill you both!"
Jack blushed at her threat like he had the face of her attitude turned him on. I smacked his head. "Dude."
"What? You will know how I feel when you give yourself to your mate," Jack said.
