Chapter Five

1900 Words
(Aurora's POV) "No!" I said, pushing Tyler away. He hit the wall and fell to the floor. I took this moment to run out of the house. Everything was happening so fast that I couldn't keep my head straight. The fact that I was intoxicated didn't help my situation. I knew that I had to get away from Tyler as quickly as possible. "Aurora! You can't run from me." Tyler yelled. Oh no, how did he find me this quickly? I booked it out of the town and into the forest. I ran for a few minutes, and I tripped on a log. "I told you, Aurora, you can't hide from me." Tyler smiled darkly. "Because I--" But Tylers suddenly stopped talking as his dark sneer turned into a face of pure terror. A low growl was heard from behind me. I saw Tyler's face drain of color, which sent a chill down my spine. The warm breath lingered on my neck. I couldn't move; my whole body was frozen, and I wouldn't dare turn around. I knew there was something behind me, but somehow, a feeling of warmth and trust washed away my fear. I felt safe for some reason. From the look on Tyler's face, I should not have felt safe. Tyler ran away, screaming. I slowly turned around. And I found nothing. "Aurora?" Said a familiar voice. I turned around and saw Titus. What the hell was he doing here? "Is everything okay?" Titus asked. "Did you? Did you see that?" I asked him. "I did. Do you know what Tyler could have done to you, Aurora?" Titus crossed his arms. "No! There was something behind me, Titus," I said, pointing to where I knew where the monster was standing. "Oh, that's what you meant. Well, I didn't see anything. I'm sorry." Titus said. "Other than that creep who tried to-- " He paused for a moment. "I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner," Titus said softly. "I want to go home. Can you please take me home?" I asked him. I breathed deeply. "Of course. Let's go." Titus took me to his car, and I started to give him directions to my home. "Aurora, what were you doing with him?" Titus asked me while he was driving. "Well, I thought we were friends," I said. I looked at Titus; his jaw was clenched together. His eyebrows furrowed together, and his hands clenched tight to the wheel. They were going white. I could tell he was trying to keep from getting angry. "Do you know what could've happened?" Titus said. "I know, it was dumb," I said, feeling shame. "I don't know what I would have done if he touched you, Aurora." He growled. "Why do you care, Titus," I said, growing agitated. "You don't even know me, and it's not like you made an effort anyway." Titus then passed me his black jacket. "Here, put this on before you catch a cold," Titus said as I accepted the jacket and put it on. I saw a smile develop on his face. "Thank you." I smiled. We soon arrived at my house, and he walked me to my front door. "I'm sorry about earlier." Titus frowned. "I'm right." He paused before continuing. "Very complicated. But the way I've been treating you wasn't fair. I was being selfish. I was thinking about my benefits without thinking and realizing that you were the one hurting. But Aurora, you're doing something to me that I can't explain." He opened his mouth again to speak, but no words came out. "And?" I tilted my head in confusion. What kind of confession was he trying to tell me? He had liked me from the beginning and didn't want me to know his true feelings. "I don't know?" Titus said. "If it makes you feel any better, Titus. I feel the same way. I feel something that I can't explain." I said, and my words made Titus smile. "D-Did you maybe want to stay? O-Only if you want, of course." Titus approached me, his face inches from mine. "What do you want, my northern light?" Titus cupped my face. "I want you to stay, Titus," I said, taking his hand to lead him to my bed. We both laid down next to each other. I laid my head on his hard chest and listened to each breath. His heartbeat was calm, steady, and strong. Titus embraced me; it was warm and inviting. I wanted to stay like this forever. I fell into a deep sleep in his warm embrace. Morning came fast, and when I woke up, Titus was gone. I then remembered what had happened that night at the party, what happened with Tyler and sharing my bed with Titus. I saw that Titus was in distress, and he seemed worried about something. "Titus, is everything okay?" I asked him. Titus jumped back, avoiding my touch. "I'm so sorry, Aurora, this can never happen again. It would be best if you stayed as far away from me as possible to be safe. Please, for your good, stay away from me." Titus said as he walked away from me and left my home with a tear rolling down his face. The next day came faster than I expected, and I wanted to know what Titus meant by what he said. For me to be safe, I needed to stay away from him. But again, he never showed up to class or showed up for school today. I thought I'd try my luck the next day, but I guess he decided not to come again. Was Titus that determined for me to stay away from him? More days passed, and Titus still never came to school. I wanted to ask Erin if he had said anything, but it would be weird to ask. She is his sister. "Aurora, is it?" I heard Sadie talking to me. "Yeah? Who wants to know?" I glared at her. "I've seen how you look at him," Sadie growled. "Who?" I asked in confusion. "Oh, don't play dumb. It's written all over your face. Titus is a man, and let's admit, he's a beautiful one, but do you think a man like Titus Black will fall for someone like you? A quiet little girl who doesn't know what the f**k she wants? Too afraid to speak her damn mind? A virgin?" Sadie grinned. "Just stay the f**k away from Titus, got it?" Sadie walked away with her boyfriend, who called for her, and I had to admit that she was right. Why would Titus look at me differently when hanging out with someone like her? I soon received a group text from Erin, and I kept forgetting that she had the entire squad's numbers so she could contact us about cheerleading practice. "Hey BITCHES, I am calling an urgent cheer meeting this Friday. Please make sure you are there!" I wonder what this meeting will be about. I wonder. (Titus's POV) The night that I spent with Aurora, I had a dream. The one where a rogue leader killed Aurora. I had never felt so much fear before. What did this mean? Was this a warning from the goddess? I had to decide to keep her safe. I'm still debating about whether or not it was the right one. I had to skip school for the week. I needed some time to think and not be distracted. I punched the heavy-duty punching bag so hard that it split in half. "Well, I guess your sister has something to do with this, or are you having girl problems?" My father said behind me. I turned around with a smile, and I hugged him. "Father! I'm so happy you returned safely." I said. "It's good to be home, son." My father said, hugging me back. "Now, tell me what's troubling you." "No-Nothing. I just wanted to work out a little," I said casually. "Titus, I went through the same thing when I met your mother. My father said. I always used to come here when something was up." "I'm fine, Dad," I said. My father gave me a long stare. "Okay. But know that I'm here for you if you ever want to talk." My father placed his hand on my sweaty shoulder. "Any luck in finding your mate?" My father asked out of the blue. I took a deep breath. "No, I'm still searching for my mate," I said. "Any words about the hunters?" I said, trying to change the subject. "Yes, that's why I came to talk to you. Meet me at my office in ten minutes. I will link Jack and his father about it as well. I quickly got in the shower, dressed, and headed to my father's office. Jack and his father were already there with my father. "Jack, Titus. We have called you boys here to discuss important news with you two. You are both the heirs to the role of this pack but also the rulers of the Werewolves. So it would be best if you and Jack were included in this discussion. Go ahead, Moses?" My father said, permitting Beta Moses to speak. "Now, we have news that the wolf hunters have locations for many werewolf packs, and they are doing their best to kill every werewolf around the world. Last week, they destroyed six packs, including our best ally, The Goldenleaf Pack." Beta Moses said. "Now, how should we deal with this?" "We will go to every one of those packs targeted, show our full support and sympathy towards them. We will then offer any wolf who has survived this tragedy a place to stay for the time being or for as long as they need." I said. "We will then send the word out to all the other packs, giving their Alpha's a heads up on what happened. We will put out extra guards on day and night patrol for extra precaution. As these hunters take out more packs, they will learn more about us and our weaknesses," Jack said. "While we know nothing about them. We will need to find out more information on what they are capable of, their weapons." "We can do this by asking those targeted what they have noticed while being cautious about what they have been through during the attacks—also, sending out spies to try and locate the hunters. They can try to find out any possible information about them." I suggested. My father and Beta Moses looked at Jack and me with pride. "Very good, we see that you have taken your lessons seriously. You have both taken good care of the pack while we were gone. We shall leave to visit the other packs immediately. The Deltas can watch the pack while we are gone. I want the Beta female and the Luna to come with us. Titus, please tell your sister that she will not be attending this trip. I don't want her to see what has happened. That will be all, thank you." My father said. Jack and I bowed our heads and walked out of the office. I'm a little scared of what we will find in the werewolf packs that the hunters have attacked. I hope that we can finish this soon before more lives are lost.
