They made love over and over until they were both exhausted, but the night was still young to sleep.
"I thought, you would have hated me and the worst, forget me," Scylla said as they were lying on the bed, her pillow was his shoulder.
"You think, you are easily forgotten? It was me who was worried that you had forgotten me and married another man. Goodness, I think my breath stops by just imagining that!" His reply made her giggle.
"That's cute." She said, staring at the beautiful creature.
"I'm sorry if I did not do anything for you. It must be hard for you to leave me because of my evil father." He said.
"Don't say that, Zach. We already resolved the past, what we need is to forget and forgive."
"You're right, I don't want to spend the night with you with sorries. I want more of this." As Zach grabbed her lips with his, devouring her.
"Zach, your phone is ringing!"
"Don't mind my phone, baby." Zach groaned.
"What if it's important?"
"You are more important." His answer melts her inside but the ringing didn't stop.
"What if it's your father?" She said, and Zach immediately grabbed his phone but the phone stopped ringing and a text popped.
"I almost forgot," Zach whispered words Scylla could not clearly hear.
"Zach, baby are you alright?" She asked worriedly.
"I am but my dad is not." He said almost sadly.
"What? What happened?"
"Just relax Scylla. My father is a strong man." And Zach stood up and started to wear his now dry clothes.
Scylla couldn't understand him. He just said that his father was not alright, but it seemed Zach was not affected by it. Or was she simply too tired to overthink?
"Come with me," Zach said the moment he was done changing.
"Of course, Zach." And she hurriedly looked for her own clothes.
She grabbed whatever dress she could.
"You look lovely." Zach complimented as he watched her dress.
She was wearing a red dress she didn’t even remember owning.
"You don't need to rush. Please do what you need to do." Zach said, relaxed.
"I'm okay, let's go," Scylla said as she slipped on her sandals.
"Are you sure? Coz baby, you have the look of after sex." Zach whispered the last two words.
"Zach!"
"I don't mind though because you are glowing and you are beautiful with that red dress that I want to..."
"Stop!" She knew what Zach was thinking.
"Why would I bother to put on some makeup when we will go to the hospital? This dress is already too much, Zach."
"Who said we will go to the hospital?" Zach asked and burst out laughing.
"We are not?" Scylla was confused.
"Scylla, we are going to our... my house, where my father is. I told you to just relax, trust me he is alright, okay?"
Scylla just nodded and checked herself in the mirror. Zach was right, she was a mess.
Mess in a red dress.
---
They arrived at his house smoothly. Zach was silent during the drive, and behaved to be exact.
They were standing right after their door, Zach was behind her when he hugged her. He breathed on her neck, sending a tingle across her skin.
"Zach, it's alright, I'm here," Scylla said, but he only tightened his hug on her waist.
"Please give me a moment..." He whispered.
Scylla obliged and relaxed. She held his hands and touched an object.
"I know, it's too fast but I want to do it right now, baby," Zach said, making her heart leap.
"No more tomorrow, next month or next year." He continued.
"Zach." She said very softly. The object she was referring to was a small box.
Zach remained hugging her from behind, his head on her shoulder while his hands were busy opening the box.
Scylla, on the other hand, was shaking. Of course she knew what it was. She couldn't believe how much luck she had that night. First, she met him again after five years and resolved things between them. Next, the man was going to propose to her, to secure their future together.
"Scylla Grace, the woman who got away, the woman who owns my heart. No more escaping, just be happy with me."
She wanted to face him but he was hugging her tight, not letting her escape. Not that she would ever run away from him again.
"Will you grant my only wish from you, my love, to marry me?"
He finally said the words she loved to hear. No woman could resist such a beautiful proposal.
It was unique and intimate.
"Yes, Zach. I will marry you!" She said with a sob, making Zach very happy.
He slipped the ring onto her finger and kissed her cheek tenderly, making her melt into his arms.
Their house door opened and there were people cheering the couple. Scylla spotted a grinning Erin which made her give a questioning look, but Erin only responded with a thumbs up.
"Finally, I thought you forgot this whole setup, son," William commented with a big smile, then hugged Scylla by surprise.
"Scylla, I'm sorry for what I have done." He said while in the hug.
"It's okay, William. It's all in the past, what's important is the present." Her reply.
"I'm glad my son found an angel and now my soon-to-be daughter." William grinned as he now faced Scylla.
"Thank you, William. I never imagined this day would come."
"So do I, but we always know, love creates a miracle." He said and faced the little crowd in their house.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for the quick help you offered for tonight. Please do enjoy yourselves and let's give the couple the time they need. I want my grandchildren the soonest!" He announced, making Scylla blush and the crowd cheered, while Zach just winked at his father.
"Very lucky, huh," Erin said, then Scylla hugged her immediately.
Erin was the only family in the room.
"I bet you kept things from me, Erin," Scylla said with a suspicious look.
"I know, nothing." Her only answer with a teasing tone.
"Congratulations Scylla! And your Zach is coming to get you, make sure to make wonderful babies for old William!" Erin teased, and she was right as Zach snatched her away.
"Ready?" He asked.
"For what?"
"For a weekend vacation. It's technically a weekend now." As his clock displayed at 12:30 AM.
"But I'm not ready!"
"Erin did." He said and carried her to his car.
Scylla was very grateful to Erin, her very reliable cousin and friend.
Zach deposited her next to his seat. He did not start the car yet. Instead, they made out as if they had never done it hours ago.
Her night couldn't be any luckier, and she was so happy and contented that her heart wanted to burst from happiness.
"I love you, Zach."
"I love you, Scylla."
They smiled, saying those lovely words, as they knew they were traveling the road to a lifetime together.
