“Quick,” I say, kicking my foot free of the stirrup. “Get down!” Niya dismounts at once. I slide down after her and pass the reins to Edhren, who takes them with some confusion. “Lead her away. I’ve got to hide my sister.” “I’ll stay with you—” “Not with the horse,” I snap and turn to grab Niya’s hand. “Come on!” “Rae, there’s no way—” she protests, but I’m not listening.
