Episode three: THE ONE WEEK PLAN

Uhmmm!.......uhmmm.....hmmmmmm

(Mr Williams clear his throat) before speaking, my daughter! I hope your mum has explain it to you better. Let me go straight to the point.

"We both want you to get marry at 25".I know you do not have a boyfriend", but I have a plan.

you have a plan!! Mabel reply.

Yes sweetheart! added Mr Williams. It is called the one week plan. One week plan!! Mabel exclaimed

"I will explain the plans to you, one by one".

The more agitated Mabel got,the more patient Mr Williams became,as he prattled on and on about every trivial details of the plans.

Firstly! ,To be plain with you Mabel, I expect the young gentleman whom I have chosen to be your husband to be in this town tomorrow,I received a call from his Dad, in which he informs me that his son is set out and that he intend to follow him shortly after.

But Dad, what if I don't like him? Mabel exclaimed. Our meeting will be so formal, like a thing of business, and there will be no room for friendship".

Depend upon it, my daughter, I will never control your choice, but Mr Nike, which I pitched upon, is the son of my old friend, Mr Richmond, of whom you have heard me talk so often about.The gentleman have been bred a "scholar" ,he just completed his doctorate degree in France,and has been design for employment in the service of his county.I was told, he is a man of an excellent understanding.

"Is he!!" Mabel exclaimed

"very generous" Mr Williams added

"Wow!! I believe I will like him"Mabel exclaimed (excitedly)

"Young, brave and handsome"Mr. Williams added.

"I'm sure, I will like him, he has nice qualities"Mabel replied.

And to crown it all, Nike should be in this town tomorrow, particularly in our home.

Now! this is the plan , in one week, you both we get to know each other and in two months time, you both,will get married".

Oh!....... Dad that's so fast,

"I am a human being!, not a computer program", Mabel agitated.

I know my daughter,we just want the wedding plans to be fast dear! and that's why it is called it the one week plan because everything must happens fastly! And I want you to dress in a pretty plain clothing,on the day Nike will arrived.

Oh!...... one more thing, before i forget

Nike is one of the most bashful and reserved young fellow in all the world.

Eh!!.......... Dad!(Mabel interrupted) you have frozen me to death again, that word RESERVED has undo all his accomplishment. "A reserved lover" ,it is say, always makes a suspicious husband.

My dear Mabel, modesty seldom resides in the breast, that is not enriched in a nobler virtues, it was this feature in his character, that first struck me, Mr Williams replied.

"I pray ,he should have more striking features to catch me, anyway, if he is so young, so handsome as you have mentioned earlier, I believe I will like him. Mabel added"

"What if, he didn't like you?"

"Hahahahaha..... (laughing)Mr. Williams teased.

Ahhh!!... Dad, why will you say that? Mabel exclaimed. Anyway, if he refuses, instead of breaking my heart with his indifference, I will only break my glass, for his flattering, set my cap for a newer fashion, and look out for a less difficult admirer.

Bravely resolved Mabel,in the main time,I will go and prepare the servants for his reception tomorrow,they need as much training as the company of recruits on their first day in camp. ( Mr Williams Exit)
