Why Help Didn't Come....

605 Words
Not far from the werewolf pack and its village, was a very prominent vampire coven. They weren't as grand as The Holy Council, but they were pretty close in size. Parts of their hunting grounds overlapped with the pack's territory. The two groups had an agreement. As long as the vampires helped in the pack's time of need, the vampires were allowed to feast on the wildlife. 3 days later, Jilian and his Blood Forest pack had finally finished recovering from the attack and the funerals had all been performed. Over 300 of their wolfish brethren had been slain, and even more, had been badly wounded. Their number of fully able fighters was meager. It was time to pay the coven a visit. Why didn't they come to help? Was the pack being abandoned in favor of the vampires choosing to save themselves? 1 vampire is about equal to 100 wolves or even more, depending upon the individual's strength, talent, training, or experience. A standard-sized coven (1-3 vampires) would be nearly identical to one of the neighboring packs in terms of strength. But this particular coven was special. It could split itself into 12.5 groups of 2 and be equal to the Blood Forest, each time. These vampires were not to be trifled with. They owned phones for better international communications with allies. Although they often preferred to do certain things the old-fashioned way. this was on account that not all humans liked the idea of the existence of "monsters" or "mythical creatures." "Alright, is everyone ready to go?" Asked Jilian. He looked at his party. A small group of 5 wolves. The Alpha, which was himself. The Beta was his best friend Aaron. And 3 guards. "Seems we are all set, Alpha." Arron replied. "Good. We set off then." They all shifted, but no sooner than they had set off did they realize they were being followed. H-hey! W-wait for meeeee! I wanna see big vamp-brother Maxwell! Let me go with you, PLEASEEEEE! Cried a golden wolf. He was even smaller than Aaron. Alex, you know better than to leave your mother's side without her permission! Jilian scolded. She said that I have to stay by my big brother Aaron! Alex said confidently as he trotted forward. He seemed to squint his eyes and stick his tongue out, in a hilarious effort to make a face at Jilian. Oh, alright! Just don't make any trouble! And stay close. Rogues could jump out at any time. Yippie! Alex pranced happily up to his brother. Aaron appeared annoyed but playfully threw his brother over his shoulders. As they neared the land the pact and coven shared, they began to pick up the scent of 3 vampires. One of them was Maxwell. His barely cream-colored skin looked nearly ash-white under the glow of the moon. His jet-black hair loosely framed his strong jaw. His figure was thin but sturdy. Even if he weren't a vampire, you'd expect him to be able to take care of himself. He might even be in the army or something... "Jilian, Aaron, Alex... and... uh... you three. What brings you to The Sanctuary?" Maxwell asked as soon as they were within earshot. Jilian, Aaron, and Alex shifted back to humans and quickly dressed the bottom half of their bodies. "Nothing good, I'm afraid. Our village was attacked a few days ago." Jilian stated. "You weren't there to help and we almost lost our homes. Care to explain?" "Unfortunately, we ourselves were attacked that night. And ... as strong as our coven is, we almost didn't make it intact." Maxwell explained reluctantly. "What?!?"
