Avery's POV
I couldn't explain why I was angry with Ethan. Was it Jasper or Sophie?
As I arrived home, the scent of roasted chicken filled my nose.
"Hmm, mom, you're cooking?" I asked.
"Honey, you're back!" she replied.
"Guess what, honey? A woman came visiting, and I got a job! She's also going to be our lawyer for the case," she said happily.
"Wow, mom, I'm happy for you. What's her name?" I asked.
"Mrs. Thompson," she replied.
My eyes widened. Oh my God, Ethan's mom! He kept his word.
"Honey, you didn't tell me Mrs. Thompson's son was your boyfriend," she said.
"Mom, he's my best friend," I corrected.
"Wow, he's so kind. Mrs. Thompson said he was behind her coming. I'm glad you told him."
Later that night, Jasper's text shattered my heart.
"Oh no, Jasper, you're kidding, right?" I asked.
He sent me a picture of myself in a bikini, with rashes all over.
Now he's blackmailing me. What can I do?
I called him.
"Hello, Jasper."
"See who's calling, the lover girl. What do you want?"
"Jasper, please, the amount of money you're asking for, I can't get."
"Then I suggest I post it."
"Jasper, come on, I thought you loved me."
"Love? I never loved you. My heart has always been with Sophie, not you. You were just a pass-time."
He spoke coldly, and I burst into tears.
"I give you 3 days, or else I'll send the picture to the group."
Three days? Should I tell Mom? No.
Oh my God, Jasper, what can I do?
Maybe I should just let him do what he wants and leave school.
I dropped my phone and fell to the floor, crying mercilessly.

Ethan's POV
Later that night, Mom walked into my room.
"Son, guess what?"
"I hate guessing, Mom."
"About that friend of yours, I took care of it."
"Yeah, I know. Thanks."
"Is everything alright, darling?"
"Yes, Mom," I lied.
Everything wasn't alright between Avery and me.
"Well, do you know that her mom was a former model I got obsessed with?"
"Yeah, sure."
Mom caught my distraction.
"Son, I demand you tell me what's bothering you."
"Okay, Mom, Avery and I got into a big fight today... I'm worried."
Mom smiled.
"I see. You're worried about your girlfriend."
"What? Ewww, Mom, stop that!"
"Fine, whatever. My advice is to talk to her, confront her, and I'm sure she'll forgive you."
"I hope so. I just feel her boyfriend must have triggered her behavior."
"She has a boyfriend?" Mom asked, disappointment in her tone.
"Yes, Mom. Now get your head over it; she can't be my girlfriend."
Mom stuck her tongue out, pouting.
"Goodnight, son."

Ethan's Mom's POV
I stood by the kitchen, dialing Avery's mom.
"Hello, Barb."
"Hi, my model."
"I'm inviting you for dinner next week during Christmas. I want us to be close."
"Oh, sure, no problem. I'm sure Avery will be glad."
"Thanks for this opportunity."
"Yes, goodnight, Barb."
"And to you too."
My husband asked from the sitting room, "New friend?"
"Yes."
"Don't mess it up, like the others. Remember, put pride down."
I smiled.
"C'mon, hun, I'm a changed person."
He laughed.
