Jax's Discovery

1045 Words
Jax POV  Dawson begins anxiously pacing in my head as we pull onto a dead end road, but he won't tell me why. 'Can you please just stop for five minutes?' I plead with no reply as I pull into the drive of the home my father sent me to. As I pull my helmet off I notice the door cracked, cautiously walking up I smell the most beautifully delicious scent of cinnamon and rain which causes Dawson even more anxiety (if that is even possible). I slowly creep in, using my werewolf senses to follow the scent down to the basement where it is the strongest. Pulling the lamp string, causing the room to be dimly lit, I am able to see a clearly old sheet on the floor seemingly fit for a slave. "What is going on here?" I ask aloud to no one in particular as I climb the stairs back into the spotless living room. I carefully explore the rest of the large house, searching for anyone who may have been injured, or signs of a break in. Finding nothing I return to the basement, noticing a lock that is only accessible from the outside, causing Dawson to become agitated. I inspect the room once more, taking in the delicious scent as much as possible before leaving. As I walk up the stairway into the main room I see a small, frail looking woman who seems distressed.  "WHO ARE YOU AND WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE?" An older lady screeches from the doorway. "Hello ma'am, my name is Jax. I came to study with a classmate of mine but I think I'm at the wrong house, when I arrived the door was open so I wanted to check if everything was okay. I'm sorry to startle you." I reply slowly making my way to the door, "I'll get going now ma'am, again I apologize for startling you." "WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY DOOR WAS OPEN? HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE BASEMENT? WHERE IS MY DAUGHTER?" She screeches charging at me. I catch her hands as she attempts to claw at me "Ma'am the house is as I found it please refrain yourself from attacking me." I state firmly before walking out, ignoring the lady's screeches as I ride off. 'Mate was there.' Dawson says 'What? Why didn't you say anything?' 'Because she is no longer there.' 'What do you mean?' I reply before Dawson closes the connection. I decided the best thing to do is to mindlink my father and explain what happened "Dad?" I call out through the mind link "Yes son?" he replies, "There was an incident regarding the errand you sent me on. When I got to the house the door was open, I entered to ensure there was nothing wrong and I found a locked basement that seemed to house a slave with no slave in sight. The owner returned and began screeching questioning me why I was there, who I am and where her daughter was yet I found nothing showing that anyone other than the slave and her lived there unless she is treating her daughter as if she is a slave. Also while checking the house I smelt a delicious scent of cinnamon and rain, Dawson says it is mate but I didn't feel anything towards the woman, so I am assuming it is either the slave or the daughter unless it is as I suspect and they are one and the same. I attempted to explain myself before she began attacking me, I left once she tried attacking me a second time, I am returning now unless there are other errands that may need my attention." I inform him quickly in hopes that there will be no repercussions because of this incident. "That was all son, please return as I have another matter I must attend to immediately." is all he replies before cutting the link off abruptly. I decide since I am already in town that I will stop and hunt in the nearby forest, turning my motorcycle into the distant parking lot of a nearby diner before dismounting and walking into the forest stripping myself of my clothes before transforming. 'I still smell mate' Dawson informs me as we begin our hunt, 'I do too Dawson, we will find her even if we must return here every day until we do.' I reply as I spot a medium sized deer crouching down before attacking and feasting on my kill. Feeling stuffed I begin my search for a stream to clean myself by, knowing there is one in this area I quickly find it and walk in before transforming back into my human form. After quickly rinsing any remaining blood I rush back to my clothes to dress and return home, as I must find out the other important matters my father was referring to. As I approach the castle, the mind link begins to fill with chatter of an unknown rouge. With my mate’s cinnamon and rain smell still teasing me I head into the gym in order to work off some of Dawson’s pent up anger over how our mate has been treated. I mount the punching bag onto it’s assigned stand and begin my stretches. It has become difficult to focus due to the ongoing chatter in the mind link, so I block it all out and focus on my warm-up. After stretching I begin my routine of punches and kicks to the punching bag, causing it to slide progressively farther and farther back. I feel a distant pull signaling someone is calling directly to me in the mind link. Preparing for the worst I open up my link to hear my father telling me to meet him in his office. “Yes Sir.” I reply as I carefully pull the bag off it’s stand and place both in their rightful place before walking upstairs towards my dad’s office. I knock three times in respect to the guard standing outside before entering my father’s office. He looks serious as he says  “One of the warriors spotted a rouge at the stream today.”
