Rouge?

1087 Words
Olyvia’s POV After an agonizing walk we arrived at a large golden gate, the metallic shimmering in the sunlight allowing its swirling design to hypnotize those who stare for too long. “It is George, open the gate. I come with a rouge found at the east side of the stream.” He calls out to what appears to be no one before another large, muscular man appears, quickly pushing the gate open before his eyes fog over. “What is wrong with him? Is he okay?” I blurt out loudly in concern for the poor man’s eyes. “What are you talking about? He is mind-linking the pack. You really know nothing of werewolves do you?” George quietly tells me before what seems to be a small army appears , all the same strong, muscular build as George and the gatekeeper. “Why so many people? I don’t understand what is going on.” I sigh before George’s eyes match the gate keeper’s. Before I can even blink I am thrown to the ground and put in chains. ‘We can take them, just let me out. Please Olly we HAVE to get inside of that castle.; Mia tells me before I hear George yell angrily “She is not dangerous! Release her at this moment!” The men surrounding me quickly dropped me, saying sorry as the smallest unchains me. I rub my wrists in an attempt at soothing the soreness from the tightness of the cuffs, “George?” I question softly, “What is going on? Why do they seem so angry towards me?” I can see the men look at me with strange looks in their eyes as the smallest speaks up “Why do you know nothing of what you are? Have you been a prisoner since birth or something?” George quickly whips his head towards the small man, “I found her at the lake, she knows next to nothing. She can speak with her wolf but has yet to shift due to her young age. I believe she was raised in the human world as she smells falsely human.” “I thought humans did not know of us?” He questions again, “Most do not, I believe her parents may not have known of them but we have no knowledge of her history at this moment. I am here to bring her to the King in hopes of figuring more out about her. Please escort us to the King’s office.” George replies authoritatively. In a flash, half of the large men shifted into their equally large wolves before walking in front of us, leading us towards the castle as Mia begins going crazy in my head, ‘Please Mia calm down.’ I begged her silently, receiving no response. “Normally Olly, rouges are violent, that is the reason the warriors were aggressive with you. I apologize, they also would like to personally apologize to you once we speak with the King.” George tells me as we approach the beautiful silver castle doors. “Please tell them it is fine, but George, what is a rouge?” I look at him. “A rouge is a wolf who has no pack. Some are sent out of the pack for doing things that are against the laws of the pack or the kingdom, some wolves go blood crazy after the death of their mate, and very few are born without a pack.” he responds before placing his hand between my shoulderblades, gently guiding me forward to the surprisingly simple stairway. As we approach a large set of black double doors, I can see several more men who look to be warriors as well walk toward us. “Stand down, she is not a threat, nor has she shown any sign of becoming one.” George states firmly before lifting the knocker of the doors. I take a deep breath, smelling a wonderful scent of pinewood and lavender. Mia becomes even more agitated as a tall man opens the door. I look up to him, admiring his shoulder length black hair, his emerald eyes seemingly searching my soul before stepping aside to usher us in. “Please sit.” the large, unknown man states, ‘Do as he says.’ Mia tells me quietly before retreating back into my mind as I sit in the chair across from the large, dark wood desk.. “My name is Andrew Tremblay. I am the king of the werewolf kingdom and I have been told you smell falsely of human yet have no knowledge?” he says as he sits, looking at me with concern and surprise. “Yes Sir. My name is Olyvia Conti, I am seventeen for another six months. My father died at the time I started hearing a voice, she calls herself Mia and says she is my wolf. It has just been my mother and I since.” I speak softly, avoiding his calculating gaze. “Tell me everything, from your father’s death until now.” he states firmly before leaning back into his chair, watching me. I fidget with my fingers as I tell him of my father’s death, fighting back tears, pausing before continuing “That day was the first day I heard her, and she has been with me since. My mother, at first, was distraught but life didn’t change much. I began seeing a therapist before my mother pulled me from school and I became the equivalent of a slave to her. Then the beatings began, at first they were rare but became more frequent as time went on. Mia has been attempting me to attack or run away from my mother for years now, and with my birthday so close I finally gained the courage to do so. I was at the stream when George showed up, as a wolf initially which frightened me as I have never seen one, then shifted and brought me here. I never knew that Mia was telling the truth, I believed I was just crazy from seeing my father die.” I retale the past to the King as watches me. His gaze penetrating, causing Mia to become agitated and aggressive, ‘He has no right to look at us this way. We are better than him.’ Mia growls out.
