Olyvia’s POV
Unbeknownst to Olyvia, the growl truly came from her, causing both the Kind and George to look at her in shock. “You said you are seventeen?” the King questions, looking at me curiously, “Yes Sir.” I confirm, still unaware of where the growl came from. “Then would you like to explain that growl? I have yet to encounter a wolf that can make their presence known before the shift.” he says firmly, sitting up in his chair. “I’m so sorry King, I did not intend to growl. Your look of shock makes sense now as I was unaware Mia’s growl was audible. Mia is not happy with your looks, she says you have no right to look at us that way.” I look at my hands in submission, which only infuriates Mia more. “Mia refuses to tell me anything about why she acts above everyone or why she says what she does, I’m sorry I won’t be able to give you an honest explanation for the misunderstanding.” I say softly in hopes of settling the mood back into a peaceful one. “Your apology is not necessary, my wolf has been telling me there is something special and important about you. Now that does not mean I will not punish you in the future for such disrespect.” he replies firmly, ‘Nothing he can do will hurt us.’ Mia says. ‘Just please don’t cause us any problems this soon, for all we know they may be bad people and kill us so just hush and listen.’ I reply, Mia whimpers as she retreats. Mia is not one to enjoy when we are mad at each other since we are all we have. “Olyvia?” I hear George say as he softly taps my shoulder, “Yes?” I reply, “The King asked you a question.” He states, his eyes showing slight concern for me. “I apologize again King, I was speaking with Mia in order to show no further disrespect for you.” “I assume she has agreed, which is good. I was asking you if you like to read?” He says, reaching into his desk to grab a large, older looking book before holding it out to me. “Yes Sir, I love reading.” I reply as I reach out for the book. As soon as I touch the book, I feel shocks throughout my body before I black out.
Andrew POV
As the young girl I’ve come to know as Olyvia touches the book, I feel a slight shock throughout my body causing me to look to her in observance. Her eyes widen before she falls to the floor in a seizure, causing me to jump from my seat as George and I catch her. “Take her to the doctor George, and notify me once she awakens.” I tell my best warrior George before he takes her from the room. I sit back in my chair after picking the rare book from the floor. This book is the history of the werewolf species, and it said to hold powers for certain wolves, though no one has been able to confirm that belief. I slowly inspect the book, curious as to if there were any marks from the recent encounter. Surprisingly the book is no longer as it was, the bindings have become fresh, as I open it I discover the wording of the pages has also been changed. “Hmmmm” I sigh before standing as Jax should be returning soon. I place the book back on it’s shelf, determined to do more research on the changes once time allows, as I turn I hear a knock on my door. As I approach the door I hear my guard “One of the warrior spotted a rouge at the stream today.” I open the door to find my son, slightly confused as his eyes flash from their similar emerald to block, signaling his wolf is using his senses. “Come in son, we have much to speak about.” I say as I step aside, allowing him entrance into my office.
Jax POV
I inhale strongly as my father opens his office door, smelling the scent of my mate once again.mI enter his office as Dawson says ‘I want mate, we must find mate.’ ‘I agree, but duties must come first.’ I respond before sitting across from my father’s desk. I feel slight tingles where my skin touches the chair, brushing it off as exhaustion before hearing my father “As my guard outside told you, we have a rouge that was found at the stream. We were unsure if there was a threat, as it turns out there is no threat from the rouge. I need you to attend the meeting with the fellow packs as I must attend to the rouge situation. You will have to leave immediately.” “Dad, while I was investigating the house I smelt my mate. I would like to search for her as soon as I return from the meetings.” I respond before standing to hug my father in happiness. “Of course son, the meeting should only have you gone for a week, you can begin your search the moment you return. You have my full support.” He says, embracing me before leading me to the door “Now hurry and pack, if you leave now you will make it before nightfall.” He says as we exit his office. I jog to my room and pull my grey suitcase out, filling it with all my essentials. I go to the kitchen to find my mother as cooking is her favorite pastime. She is at the stove, the aroma of enchiladas invading my nose as I hug her, telling her of my departure. “My son, it looks as if the time has not come. Please be safe and call as soon as you arrive.” She says, returning my hug before pulling away, tapping me on the shoulder signaling me to leave before she starts to cry. I cannot stand to see my mother cry and she knows it, she tries to allow me time to escape before the tears begin flowing otherwise she knows nothing would get done as I would be comforting her. My mother is a strong but tender woman, she tends to tear up at any thought of me leaving though she knows I will always return.
