Chapter 2: Call from Agatha

1600 Words
In Christina Hanson's view, employees must contribute to the company in one way or another, as long as they can achieve the set goals. It was her egotistical thinking that caused others to always work in shame. No one wants to live next to such a perfectly functioning machine. Of course, Christina also didn't care about gossip from unrelated people. She was used to stepping on public opinion to live as normally as possible. Everyone could notice during the meeting, that Christina kept squeezing her hands as if trying to suppress the anger that was constantly boiling in her heart. And it was also true, she hated herself for not standing up to protest because she knew this was the best she could do right now. Christina is very grateful to Marcel and the company for leaving her work from home for nine months straight. Even though she only achieved half of her goals and just over a third of sales, Marcel still created conditions for her to work from home, guaranteeing her salary as usual. Since childhood, Christina has always been an understanding child, to the point of being able to hurt others with her excessive kindness and docility. That's why she struggled from time to time to receive guests like the old man just now. Although Christina's Sales Director repeatedly offered to let him welcome guests directly, she always refused and always volunteered on behalf of other employees. Christina's parents gave her a beautiful face. But God also knows how to throw a ton of trouble into her life because of this. Sometimes Christina doesn't understand what's the point of being beautiful when people can only judge her whole life by it. At this time, the old customer's car had just left when the Sales Manager of Christina Hanson and a few other employees in the sales department immediately surrounded her and asked all kinds of questions. Someone apologized for not being able to protect her, someone thanked her. And some argue that Christina deserves a few days' sabbaticals. Marcel thinks that Christina should never receive scrupulous customers like the old man again. You won't know how crazy they can be. But Christina Hanson just smiled and shook her head slightly: "Thanks, but everyone is overdoing it. I'm a real 'steel lady'. I don't mind these trifles. But today, can I go home early, boss? My whole body is exhausted from this contract." Marcel accepts Christina's offer. He also asked her if she wanted him to send someone to take her home, but she refused. Christina Hanson quietly gathered things at the desk, then said goodbye to everyone and walked out of the company with a half-apologetic, half-pitied face. An employee with a rather old face said to Christina's boss: "Poor girl! Every time she wants to go home, she avoid everyone. Thanks to it, our company has another good contract. But that makes me feel uncomfortable. That's disgusting!" Marcel watched Christina's back disappear and sighed: "The whole company can only count on Christina. Could it be that there are so many employees here who still can't complete the same tasks as her? Speaking of which, I feel guilty for not being able to protect it. Either way, we can't just rely on each child. Don't be so cruel and selfish!" Another male employee interjected: “This is also partly due to Christina Hanson… she always suffers in silence. Christina worked very hard. Boss, let me rest more, let me handle the rest!" Marcel and the others suddenly turned to look at the male employee who spoke. All showed utter disdain. Marcel looked at him and shook his head wearily, sighing. He left without saying a word. Others began to mock and threaten the male employee. The oldest female employee just patted him on the shoulder and said quickly: "Shameless dreamer." “Hey… people can't treat me like that. At least I contribute to the company.” The male employee spoke eloquently, trying to hold on to the fragile pride that remained on the corner of his lips, but Marcel's indifferent words made him extinguish the fire of pride in his heart: "You'd better shut up. quiet. That's great for all of us right now. Don't make my last days at work a pathetic hell. If you want to prove yourself, try cleaning up your office! Starting today is fine!” Although the male employee kept shouting about Marcel's quick decision, everyone pretended that nothing had happened. They returned to their positions and continued their work. The company lobby area is quiet, only the sound of keyboard typing and the phone ringing from the office. Time flows as it always does, even as things start to get more out of the ordinary. At the moment, Christina is at the bus stop. From time to time, she glanced at the watch on her wrist. The phone suddenly rang. Christina looked at the screen with a rather eager expression. A calendar reminder message is being displayed. "Two more hours until an appointment with Jonathan Kim - General Director of AZ Company." This is an extremely necessary and important appointment for Christina. Since her Morverick Corporation and AZ Company were preparing to sign a large project, she had to win the contract at all costs. Of course, Christina needed a big push to get her to the position of Sales Manager. She has been pursuing this project since a few months ago, so she must try to achieve success today. As the bus approached, Christina's train of thought was also interrupted. She quickly entered and began her journey back to her beautiful home in Queens. After more than an hour in the tub, Christina finally came out of the house with a whole new look. Blonde hair, brown eyes, red lips with Dior satin lipstick, and metallic green Gucci dress, the color that any fashionista should try right in winter. Christina knows how to attract people's eyes with her deadly seductive beauty. She called a taxi and went to a fancy restaurant. As soon as she got out of the car, General Manager Jonathan Kim appeared. Even though she had arrived thirty minutes earlier, it seemed that he was even earlier than her. Christina was quite surprised. Jonathan smiled and took her hand to lead her inside. The polite gesture from Jonathan Kim coupled with the chic, polished look made Christina try to stay calm. How could Christina resist the deadly charm of Jonathan Kim? He is the total of everything she loves: handsome, gallant, rich, sexy body, and especially the greatest chance for her to achieve her goals. Jonathan Kim is much taller than Christina, but currently, he is only as tall as her. Christina realized this when she suddenly remembered the twenty-inch high heels that were glittering at her feet. Jonathan Kim said softly: "I did not expect the Assistant Sales Manager of Morverick Group to be as beautiful as a movie star". Christina replied: "Is it true that I'm walking alongside Brad Pitt?" The two smiled at each other and entered the restaurant. But as soon as he stepped onto the threshold of the restaurant, the phone rang loudly. At this point, she didn't want to answer the phone at all, but she also couldn't let the loud ringing bother Jonathan Kim. Christina looked at her phone screen. Agatha is calling her. Agatha is Christina's mother. She was a bit surprised that Grandma rarely called at this time. Christina took a deep breath to try to stay calm. "I'm here mom!" Christina Hanson's voice is trying to be as casual as possible. She forced a smile so that the opposite person would not realize the inherent melancholy that was clinging to her every sentence and every word. But Agatha didn't answer, Christina's hand could only hear hesitant hums. She got a little nervous and started thinking about things that weren't very optimistic. When she finished asking, it took a long time for her mother to answer: “Christina… I'm at the hospital.” “Where is mom? Which hospital is that? I'll run to you right away." Christina Hanson paints in her head many different scenarios that are not positive and bright at all. She turned to look at Jonathan Kim, who immediately offered to take her to the hospital. She hesitated for a moment and then profusely apologized for not being able to continue the date with him right now. Jonathan Kim smiled reassuringly at Christina. He says that she should get to her mother's place as quickly as possible. About the contract, he and she will discuss it later. While waiting for Agatha to share the information, Christina immediately took a taxi to the hospital. Luckily, it's very close to the restaurant. Jonathan Kim looked at Christina's extremely hasty appearance and was a little worried in his heart. Jonathan sighed and suddenly shook his head, he blamed himself for his unlucky fate on this date. Originally, he had heard a lot about Christina before. He was extremely curious about a woman as talented and beautiful as her. Today, when he made an appointment to meet her here, not only because of work, but also wanted to see if he had a chance for her. But now, Jonathan just wants to do the smallest thing is to take Christina to the hospital, but everything does not work out. Jonathan had just turned to leave when his phone suddenly rang. He looked at the screen and suddenly burst out laughing: "What's this bastard calling at this hour for?"
