Chapter 23: The Chairman's Decision

1524 Words
The large meeting room of Morverick's company became extremely tense when the Board of Directors and the sales department staff began to complain about the new Sales Director. That made the company's General Director feel both uncomfortable and highly embarrassed. He wondered to himself when his son would understand better. As for Christina and Marcel, they were still leisurely, calmly chatting with each other. She sometimes nodded to listen to him share. Finally, more than an hour passed in anxious waiting, and the General Director called continuously to the Sales Director. Still, the answer was just a vague ringtone. He suppressed his anger and apologized to everyone for such an unacceptable delay. John was just about to end the meeting when the phone rang again. The General Manager happily picked up the phone, hummed, looked annoyed, and smiled to announce that the Sales Manager would be there in ten minutes. He apologized again on behalf of his son, but everyone pretended that this was normal and nothing happened. No one has the energy to care about John Morverick and the divine son he always praises in front of everyone when it comes to it. Marcel was happy again. He knew that this was Brandy's trick, and more or less, it created a pretty good effect on the situation. Just as Marcel was happily chatting with a few other people in the company, Christina's phone vibrated in her pocket. She saw the number of a VIP customer, and she did not expect that customer to call her back. That is General Manager Jonathan Kim. Christina felt strange, so she asked Marcel's permission to go out to answer the phone. Jonathan Kim's hand, hearing her voice, was overjoyed. Jonathan wants Christina to come to his company urgently to advise on a new item arising in the contract, and she must quickly solve it. Jonathan's offer was quickly converted from word of mouth to an e-mail sent directly to the Sales department and the Morverick Board of Directors. Fiona and Maikon looked at the screen together, then turned their eyes to Marcel. The three sighed in unison and headed straight for General Manager John Morverick. He could only put on a wry smile. Although she wanted to stay to 'meet' the new Sales Director, Christina had to leave the meeting on direct urgent orders from General Manager John Morverick. Both the Board of Directors think that working with the partner is more important than meeting the new Sales Director in a formal way like that. In particular, Fiona said that with this late working style, Christina and the Board of Directors did not have the opportunity to meet the successor of the Sales Director. Fiona's sour and somewhat exaggerated way of talking made everyone laugh, but it changed General Manager John's face. Marcel turned to urge Christina to hurry to keep up with the schedule. Because everyone knows that whenever a problem arises in a new contract, Christina must be on duty at the client's company to handle it. Sometimes, this takes weeks or months to ensure their business progresses. Christina greeted everyone and quickly left the company. As soon as Christina left, Marcel immediately said that a person who worked so hard could not step into the sales manager position. His words pierced the eardrums of General Manager John. Everyone's eyes turned to Marcel until Maikon and Fiona also spoke up. They said that if this company did not have Christina's presence, it would be a huge and immeasurable loss. Everyone wanted to compliment Christina, but they were low-level employees, so they didn't dare say it. Christina's position is now quite sensitive to the new Sales Director - the son of the General Manager. And any employee of the Morverick company realizes this. As soon as the taxi came to pick Christina off of the company gate, about five minutes later, the door of the large meeting room was opened again with a voice: "Sorry, everyone! I'm late!" Brandy appeared to the surprise of all the staff here, except for Marcel, Fiona, Maikon, and Brandy's father. The rest of the people seemed not to know his face. Of course, they were so overwhelmed by Brandy's beauty and charm that all eyes, from men to women, could not leave him even for a fleeting moment. “I apologize for being late.” Brandy once again flashed an enchanting smile that attracted all the young men and women of the company. He seemed to have become the new male role model at the company from the first moment he stepped in. His gaze swept across the conference room, and he smiled happily, bowing to Marcel, Fiona, and Maikon. General Manager John eloquently announced in a firm voice. That made him much more complacent in Brandy's eyes. “I would like to introduce myself to everyone,” he said. That is my son - Brandy Morverick. He will…” “Never accepted the position of Sales Director.” Brandy suddenly interrupted with a calm demeanor. The strangest thing was that he still kept the smile on his lips as if he wanted to challenge Mr. John. He growled, glaring at Brandy: "What?" “I would like to reiterate that I will never accept the position of Sales Director. Everyone should understand that to take up this position. We must have certain experiences concerning physical contact at the company or partner. That is also an extremely important position. And most of all, I have a lot of other plans for myself than focusing on things like this.” Brandy emphasized every word to firmly affirm that he would never sit down in this Sales Director's chair. Brandy still enjoys freestyle flying and becoming a financial investor. General Manager John got angry, lost his self-image, slammed his fist on the table, and shouted: “Brandy, what are you saying? You want to embarrass me again, don't you?" Brandy was by no means slow or condescending to John. He turned around to look deeply into his eyes and again explained why he refused this assignment: "This is not a matter of losing face or not, but a matter of faith: trust and conformity. I cannot put you in a position where you are neither prepared nor ready to do well right now. Think again. Anything created by coercion will never achieve good results.” "Really? I'm excellent. But what if the Chairman of the Group personally appoints this decision?” The General Manager laughed. He reached out his hand to type on the keyboard of a personal computer when a face appeared on the large screen in the meeting room. A young man looked about Brandy's age, but his demeanor was completely above him. That boy was the Chairman of the Morverick Corporation. Brandy gaped at the screen: "Chairman of the Corporation???" The young man smiled and looked at everyone through the camera in the center of the screen. He said, "Uncle John, next time, if you want me to have a meeting with the entire company, you can say it right from the start. I will arrange to go down to the company, meet people in person, not necessarily online like this.” "Chairperson???" Fiona, Maikon, and Marcel looked at each other in bewilderment, not believing their eyes. The Group President turned his gaze around Brandy and began to ask a few random questions: “Brandy? Long time no see you. How are you these days? Still wandering around the market corner looking for a girl, right?" "God, Hell, don't say that in front of everyone." Brandy lost face and turned outside the big door, avoiding everyone's eyes. Suddenly, the Chairman of Morverick Corporation became angry: “Hell??? How often have I told you not to call me? Hell, my full name is Helsinky Morverick. And I tell you, if you don't follow my instructions on the Sales Director personnel plan, I will remove your name from the list of legal inheritance." Upon hearing this, Brandy shouted: “Helsinky!!! Are you crazy?" At that moment, Marcel took the opportunity to tell Helsinki everything about Christina: “President, can you hear me talk?” As soon as Marcel spoke, Helsinki smiled and nodded. He reassured him a few words and said: "Director Marcel, it's been a while since I heard your voice. I know it's going to be hard on Christina this time, but rest assured. I have a plan for her. Christina is a great fit for a huge project of mine. So you just let her stay in the Sales department with Brandy for the time being.” “I…” Marcel still felt that this settlement was extremely arbitrary and not good for Christina. He bravely presented his personal opinion to Helsinki. He nodded and smiled at Marcel: "It's also a loss for her, isn't it? Let me think… let's split the sales department into two groups. Let Christina and Brandy become the two temporary Sales Managers. If any group achieves sales within six months, let that person be the Sales Director. The other person is the Deputy Director."
