The following days passed smoothly and comfortably as she worked every morning, returning in the afternoon to complete her essay. When graduation day came, Christina Hanson invited her parents to college to attend. Christina was extremely nervous as she stepped onto the podium to speak. She didn't think she had the strength to handle the recent pressure. Christina imagined that the three would hug each other and sob in happiness with all that joy.
Christina Hanson's graduation ceremony was even more impressive when Sales Manager Marcel at Morverick Group and colleagues came to congratulate her with flowers. Of course, when Christina's parents saw Marcel and the Morverick staff, the two of them weren't happy at all. However, today was a momentous and sunny day for Christina. Agatha didn't want her daughter to be sad, so she talked with Marcel and the others.
Christina Hanson knew it was the happiest day of her life. Until the other guy appeared again, he just stood silently from afar, looking towards the graduation ceremony of the new graduates. Christina could still see the man's excited face as he stared at her speaking on the podium.
When the ceremony was over, Christina Hanson and her mother returned home, and her father said he needed to stop by a friend's house to pick up some things. Agatha hesitated a bit when Christina's father left Columbia University. Agatha asked her husband: “Are you sure you will come home soon? I will make a lot of food. And I don't want our daughter's college graduation party to go cold."
Christina Hanson also initially felt the strangeness emanating from her father's actions, but she did not ask further when she heard Agatha say that. Mother and daughter Christina happily carried their diplomas and flowers home to the congratulations of many people. Marcel tells Christina that he has rewarded her with a week of leave so she can rest with her family. Christina thanked Marcel so much. She could not refuse such a wonderful gift. As Christina and her parents left the school, the strange boy approached Marcel and said, "Uncle Marcel, I've always wondered about you. Why are the prettiest girls in New York always surrounding you? Can you tell me the secret?"
Marcel turned to look at that guy and smiled: “Brandy, she is an intern of the Company, and I consider her as my daughter. Please don't hang around with it. Let me remind you in advance. She's not the type of girl you can play around with all day. Be careful!”
Brandy shook her head, "Don't joke like that. I'm not an i***t, am I?"
Marcel patted Brandy on the shoulder and told him, “I'm not kidding you. You're threatening."
After Marcel finished speaking, he quickly left, leaving Brandy whispering after him with a scowl and an annoyed expression on his face. Marcel kept rubbing Brandy's shoulder lightly, causing the pain to throb. The phone rang inside his jacket pocket. As soon as Brandy picked up the phone, he quickly closed his eyes, frowned, and took the phone away from his ear. Brandy began grumpily: “You can't leave this family alone, can you? If I were the father, I would have divorced my mother long ago. Don't talk like you're the victim. I swear to God, everyone knows what mom did. Don't expect to go to Heaven. Hell is preparing a great place for you. Come down and run for office with Lucifer!"
Brandy turned off the phone and disappeared into the crowded Columbia University crowd.
Christina arrived home, but her father still hadn't returned more than two hours later. Christina felt quite insecure in her heart but did not dare to ask her mother because she was afraid that she would worry. Christina's mother was still hanging around in the rather large kitchen, cooking a few dishes to celebrate her. However, for some unknown reason, Agatha cut her hand. She has always been known to be careful in the kitchen. And Christina was so restless that she didn't know how to explain this strange feeling. Suddenly, her phone rang.
An unknown phone number has been called. Christina cautiously answered the phone when the other end of the line gave her terrible news. Her father had been in a car accident and was in the hospital. Christina immediately went to the place with her mother, knowing that her current situation was very critical.
It was also the first time Christina and her mother met Dr. Theseus. And this was the last time they saw her father. Because after more than five hours, Dr. Theseus and the rest of the medical staff on the operation team walked in unison in front of Christina and her mother and said in a hoarse voice, a little choked in her throat: "We're sorry. We tried our best."
As soon as Christina Hanson's mother heard the news, she fainted. She was immediately taken to the emergency room to rest. Only Christina Hanson, with her red eyes, stood looking at Dr. Theseus with the rest. She bowed and said, "I thank the doctors for helping my father."
Christina's actions caused another nurse to burst into tears. Doctor Theseus was amazed at her composure. But more than anyone else, he could feel the excruciating pain in Christina's seemingly determined eyes. Theseus put his hand on her shoulder and personally led her to see her father one last time. Dr. Theseus handed Christina a folder and said, “According to what emergency services say, he was in a car accident while driving home from Manhattan. I apologize for not being able to fulfill my duty.”
At this point, Agatha has just regained consciousness, and she tells Christina that her father is negotiating with the owner of the house she is renting to buyback. He wanted to give it to her as a present to celebrate her graduation. Christina sat down by the bed, gently took her father's cold hand, and whispered intermittently as if she wanted to confide in Dr. Theseus: "Today is the day you graduate from college. Why did your father go there? I… really need him to come home and have dinner with us.”
Doctor Theseus listened silently to what Christina Hanson had to say. He stayed like that so she could feel the warmth next to him.
Everything is in the past, but Christina has never forgotten any images. Her memories are still fresh, as if they all happened yesterday. Therefore, Christina minimized traveling by car. It became an unrelenting obsession in her heart. Although she still hasn't entirely escaped the past, loud car horns brought Christina Hanson back to reality.
Returning to the present time, when Christina's wounds from losing her beloved father have no longer hurt but have not yet healed, she has to face a new obstacle. It was a complication from Agatha's wound. From the depths of Christina's soul, she always knew that Agatha had suffered both physical and emotional pain. Agatha had initially been a famous model, but in a traffic accident in Milan, she could not walk on the catwalk again. Because of this guilt, Agatha withdrew entirely from the fashion world. Even when close friends in the world met and advised her to return to the studio lights, she gently refused. Agatha once confided to Christina: "After that accident, my mother lost a part of herself, which is the catwalk, studio lights, and thousands of beautiful designs. But thanks to that, the mother found her home, which was where her father and son were. Everything I need is already inside the two people I love the most.”
Christina rarely dared to talk about catwalk-related things because she knew it would break Agatha's heart. Christina continued to wander along the cobblestone streets of Manhattan. Several signs swayed in Christina's field of vision. The glittering series of numbers affixed to the windows displayed hundreds of flashy things. She suddenly remembered the number of hospital bills she was about to pay in a short time. Christina leaned against the red-gray wall. The stream of people passed her like an endless stream of water, but she was just a leaf leaning against the rock, waiting for the flow.
Suddenly, Christina's eyes were on a company on the opposite side, TA Real Estate Agency. Christina had her phone in hand, poring over the personal financial chart she'd been flipping all night to figure out the right plan. Christina took a deep breath to let the cold air fill her lungs and tighten her chest. She put her phone in her bag and headed straight for the door of TA Real Estate Agency. For a fleeting minute, she felt too hesitant to step inside. Christina clutched her coat. She said to herself: “Christina Hanson, your mother's health is the most important thing right now. You should buy another house. Or… at least you can rent a small apartment to cover your expenses. Come on, Christina Hanson, now is not the time to be sad.”
Christina's voice is small but still attracts others' attention. A male real estate agent appears with a lovely face and enchanting voice from within the Company. He is a bold Latin American with a beautiful smile. His clean and bright appearance also makes it easier for her to trust and like others more than others at this company. As soon as he saw Christina, he greeted and treated her like a VIP: “Hi, I'm Marco Delana. You can call me Marc. If I'm not mistaken, I'm talking to Christina Hanson, the most beautiful and talented employee of the Morverick Corporation, right?"
