Episode 14: Festival Fiasco

1552 Words
Cassie woke up extra early, the sun streaming through her window. Today was Harmony High’s annual school festival, and excitement buzzed in the air. Her cat pawed at her face as if reminding her: “Brace yourself… chaos incoming.” ‎ ‎Breakfast was predictably messy. Cassie tried pouring cereal into a bowl, but the bag tore, scattering flakes across the counter. Her cat pounced immediately, knocking over her milk. “Of course,” Cassie muttered. ‎ ‎She grabbed a granola bar, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and raced to school. Harmony High was already alive with decorations, banners, and students preparing booths. ‎ ‎“Ready for festival chaos?” Liam asked, leaning casually against the entrance. ‎ ‎“Does chaos ever take a day off?” Cassie groaned. ‎ ‎“Not when you’re around,” Liam said softly, smiling. ‎ ‎Cassie felt her cheeks warm. Somehow, Liam’s calm presence always made her feel braver. ‎ ‎The festival had multiple booths: games, food, and creative activities. Cassie was assigned to the pie-throwing booth, while Liam was helping with the ring toss. ‎ ‎Her first attempt at setting up the booth didn’t go smoothly. A bucket of whipped cream tipped over, spilling onto the table and floor. Cassie slipped slightly while trying to clean it, and Liam was instantly there to steady her. ‎ ‎“You okay?” he asked, eyebrows raised. ‎ ‎“Yes… mostly,” she said, laughing. ‎ ‎“You’re impossible,” he teased. ‎ ‎“And you stick with me anyway,” she replied, giggling. ‎ ‎Throughout the morning, chaos continued. Students accidentally flung pies in unintended directions, whipped cream ended up on faces (including Cassie’s), and balloons popped unexpectedly. Cassie laughed so hard she nearly dropped a pie on herself. ‎ ‎“You make chaos kind of fun,” Liam whispered as he handed her a clean pie. ‎ ‎Cassie smiled. “Fun? I nearly covered myself in whipped cream!” ‎ ‎“Exactly,” he said, smirking. “But you survived with style.” ‎ ‎Her cheeks heated. “I guess style counts for something,” she admitted quietly. ‎ ‎By lunchtime, Cassie’s hair was slightly messy, her uniform smeared with whipped cream, and her hands sticky with sugar. Liam sat beside her, sharing a soda and laughing at her chaotic attempts at pie-throwing. ‎ ‎“You were amazing,” he said softly. “And honestly… I like watching you handle it all.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s heart fluttered. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎After lunch, the festival continued with more fun and mishaps. Cassie accidentally launched a pie too far, nearly hitting a teacher, but Liam quickly caught it mid-air. Students cheered at the funny disaster, and Cassie laughed so hard she nearly fell off her chair. ‎ ‎Somehow, with Liam around, chaos felt less scary and more like an adventure. Every spill, every thrown pie, every unexpected squeal was part of the fun. ‎ ‎As the festival drew to a close, Cassie and Liam walked together, dodging leftover props and sticky sugar spills. The afternoon sun cast a warm, golden glow over the school grounds. ‎ ‎“You make chaos kind of fun,” Liam said again, nudging her gently. ‎ ‎Cassie laughed. “Fun? I nearly ruined the pie booth!” ‎ ‎“Exactly,” he said, smirking. “But you survived with style.” ‎ ‎Her cheeks heated. “I guess style counts for something,” she admitted quietly. ‎ ‎“You were amazing,” he said softly. “And I like watching you handle it all.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s heart fluttered. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎They reached her street. Cassie paused, reluctant to say goodbye. Liam noticed and smiled gently. ‎ ‎“See you tomorrow?” he asked. ‎ ‎“Definitely,” she said, smiling back. Her heart felt full, light, and giddy. ‎ ‎Cassie waved goodbye at her gate and stepped inside her house, flopping onto her bed. Her cat jumped onto her lap, meowing for attention. Cassie stroked its fur, thinking about pies, whipped cream, and Liam’s calm presence through it all. ‎ ‎A smile spread across her face. Chaos might follow her everywhere—from spilled cream to flying pies—but with Liam by her side, even disasters were fun, exciting, and maybe even sweet. ‎ ‎Tomorrow promised new adventures, more mishaps, and more moments with Liam that made her heart race. Somehow, she knew that no matter how chaotic life got, she would always find joy in it… especially with him around. ‎ ‎Because even when chaos ruled the day, laughter, friendship, and a little hint of romance made everything worth it. ‎ ‎Cassie closed her eyes, feeling exhausted but happy. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow—more chaos, more laughter, more adventures, and, of course, more moments with Liam. ‎ ‎After the festival ended, Harmony High’s hallways were a sticky, colorful mess—piles of whipped cream, balloons, and leftover pies. Cassie sighed, grabbing a mop and bucket as part of her cleanup duty. ‎ ‎Liam appeared beside her, carrying a tray of leftover balloons. “Ready to survive cleanup chaos?” he teased. ‎ ‎Cassie groaned. “I think chaos has officially claimed me as its queen today.” ‎ ‎“You make chaos kind of fun,” Liam said softly. ‎ ‎Cassie felt her cheeks warm. Somehow, even after a messy day, his calm presence made everything feel lighter. ‎ ‎The cleanup began, and true to form, disaster struck almost immediately. Cassie slipped on a puddle of whipped cream, flailing wildly before Liam caught her by the waist. ‎ ‎“You okay?” he asked, steadying her. ‎ ‎“Yes… mostly,” she said, laughing nervously. “Why does chaos always follow me?” ‎ ‎“Because it loves you,” he teased. ‎ ‎Cassie rolled her eyes but smiled. Somehow, Liam made her mishaps feel less scary and more fun. ‎ ‎As they moved through the hallway, Cassie accidentally bumped into a cart of leftover pies, sending several flying across the floor. Liam ducked and managed to catch two, but one splatted right in front of her shoes. ‎ ‎“Great,” she muttered, laughing. “Now I have pie shoes.” ‎ ‎“You survive with style,” Liam said, smirking, handing her a clean towel. ‎ ‎Her cheeks heated. “I guess style counts for something,” she admitted quietly. ‎ ‎By the time the cleanup was almost done, Cassie was sticky, tired, and laughing at the chaos she’d caused. Liam stayed by her side the entire time, steadying her, helping her mop up spills, and making her laugh at every disaster. ‎ ‎“You were amazing today,” Liam said softly. “Even with all the chaos, you handled everything.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s heart fluttered. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎As the last balloon was packed away and the final pie remnants cleaned up, the sun was beginning to set. Cassie and Liam walked together down the hallway, tired but happy. ‎ ‎“You make chaos kind of fun,” Liam said again, nudging her gently. ‎ ‎Cassie laughed. “Fun? I nearly ruined the entire festival!” ‎ ‎“Exactly,” he said, smirking. “But you survived with style.” ‎ ‎Her cheeks heated. “I guess style counts for something,” she admitted quietly. ‎ ‎“You were amazing,” he said softly. “And honestly… I like watching you handle it all.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s heart fluttered. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎They reached her street.
