Episode 15: Sports Day Shenanigans

1572 Words
‎Cassie woke up feeling a mix of excitement and dread. Today was Harmony High’s annual Sports Day, a day full of races, games, and friendly competitions. Her cat pawed at her face as if to say, “Prepare yourself… disaster queen.” ‎ ‎Breakfast was predictably messy. Cassie poured cereal into a bowl, but the bag tore, spilling flakes all over the counter. Her cat pounced immediately, knocking over her glass of milk. “Of course,” Cassie muttered. ‎ ‎She grabbed a granola bar, threw on her sports uniform, and rushed out the door. Harmony High’s field was already bustling with students stretching, laughing, and preparing for the events. ‎ ‎“Ready for Sports Day chaos?” Liam asked, leaning casually against the fence. ‎ ‎“Does chaos ever take a day off?” Cassie groaned. ‎ ‎“Not when you’re around,” Liam said softly, smiling. ‎ ‎Cassie felt her cheeks warm. Somehow, Liam’s calm presence always made her feel braver. ‎ ‎The first event was a three-legged race, and Cassie was paired with her best friend, but her friend tripped almost immediately. Cassie stumbled to avoid falling but ended up bumping into Liam’s pair. Liam caught her arm, steadying her instantly. ‎ ‎“You okay?” he asked. ‎ ‎“Yes… mostly,” she said, laughing. “Why does chaos always follow me?” ‎ ‎“Because it loves you,” he teased. ‎ ‎Cassie rolled her eyes but couldn’t stop smiling. Somehow, Liam made her mishaps feel less scary and more fun. ‎ ‎Next came the egg-and-spoon race. Cassie carefully balanced her egg but got distracted by Liam cheering from the sidelines. She wobbled, sending the egg flying… straight toward Liam. ‎ ‎“Cassie!” he exclaimed, laughing as he ducked just in time. ‎ ‎“I’m… sorry!” she said, laughing nervously. “I didn’t mean to launch it at you!” ‎ ‎Liam shook his head, smiling. “It’s fine. Just roll with it.” ‎ ‎Cassie laughed. Somehow, just hearing him say that calmed her nerves. ‎ ‎Throughout the morning, minor disasters continued—students slipping in mud, balloons popping unexpectedly, and water cups spilling. Cassie laughed so hard she nearly fell, but Liam was always there to steady her. ‎ ‎By lunchtime, Cassie was muddy, sweaty, and laughing at every disaster she’d caused. Liam handed her a water bottle and smiled. ‎ ‎“You survived Sports Day chaos,” he said. ‎ ‎“Barely,” she admitted. “Chaos seems to love me more than anyone.” ‎ ‎“You handle it well,” he said softly. “And honestly… I like watching you.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s cheeks flushed. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎The rest of the afternoon continued with tug-of-war, relay races, and silly obstacle courses. Cassie accidentally tripped multiple times, but each time, Liam was there to help her up. Somehow, with him around, chaos felt less scary and more like an adventure. ‎ ‎As the day drew to a close, Cassie and Liam walked together along the field, muddy but smiling. The golden sunlight reflected off the grass, making the chaos feel magical. ‎ ‎“You make chaos kind of fun,” Liam said again, nudging her gently. ‎ ‎Cassie laughed. “Fun? I nearly ruined every race today!” ‎ ‎“Exactly,” he said, smirking. “But you survived with style.” ‎ ‎Her cheeks heated. “I guess style counts for something,” she admitted quietly. ‎ ‎“You were amazing,” he said softly. “And honestly… I like watching you handle it all.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s heart fluttered. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎They reached her street. Cassie hesitated, reluctant to say goodbye. Liam noticed and smiled gently. ‎ ‎“See you tomorrow?” he asked. ‎ ‎“Definitely,” she said, smiling back. Her heart felt full, light, and giddy. ‎ ‎Cassie waved goodbye at her gate and stepped inside her house, flopping onto her bed. Her cat jumped onto her lap, meowing for attention. Cassie stroked its fur, thinking about Sports Day disasters, muddy races, and Liam’s calm presence through it all. ‎ ‎A smile spread across her face. Chaos might follow her everywhere—from spilled water to tripping in mud—but with Liam by her side, even disasters were fun, exciting, and maybe even sweet. ‎ ‎Tomorrow promised new adventures, more mishaps, and more moments with Liam that made her heart race. Somehow, she knew that no matter how chaotic life got, she would always find joy in it… especially with him around. ‎ ‎Because even when chaos ruled the day, laughter, friendship, and a little hint of romance made everything worth it. ‎ ‎Cassie closed her eyes, feeling exhausted but happy. She couldn’t wait for tomorrow—more chaos, more laughter, more adventures, and, of course, more moments with Liam. ‎ ‎After the last race, Harmony High’s field was a muddy, chaotic mess. Water cups had toppled, balloons lay half-deflated on the grass, and whipped cream remnants from previous events still lingered in some corners. Cassie groaned as she grabbed a mop and a bucket, ready to tackle the cleanup duty. ‎ ‎Liam appeared beside her, carrying a tray of leftover supplies. “Ready for the aftermath chaos?” he teased. ‎ ‎Cassie rolled her eyes. “Chaos has been following me all day. I’m not sure I can survive cleanup too.” ‎ ‎“You make chaos kind of fun,” Liam said softly. ‎ ‎Cassie felt her cheeks warm. Somehow, even after the messiest day, his calm presence made her feel lighter. ‎ ‎The cleanup began, and true to form, disaster struck almost immediately. Cassie slipped on a puddle of water from a spilled cup, flailing wildly before Liam caught her by the waist. ‎ ‎“You okay?” he asked, steadying her. ‎ ‎“Yes… mostly,” she said, laughing nervously. “Why does chaos always follow me?” ‎ ‎“Because it loves you,” he teased. ‎ ‎Cassie rolled her eyes but smiled. Somehow, Liam made her mishaps feel less scary and more fun. ‎ ‎As they moved across the field, Cassie accidentally bumped into a bucket of leftover paint from a previous art event. Bright blue streaks splashed across her sneakers. ‎ ‎“Perfect,” she muttered, laughing. “Now my shoes are art too.” ‎ ‎“You survive with style,” Liam said, smirking, handing her a towel. ‎ ‎Her cheeks heated. “I guess style counts for something,” she admitted quietly. ‎ ‎Throughout the afternoon, they helped other students clean up, dodging muddy patches, slipping occasionally, and laughing at every minor disaster. Liam stayed by her side, steadying her whenever she lost her balance, joking whenever she got herself stuck in a puddle. ‎ ‎“You were amazing today,” Liam said softly. “Even with all the chaos, you handled everything.” ‎ ‎Cassie’s heart fluttered. “I… I like it too,” she whispered. ‎ ‎By the time the field was fully cleaned, the sun was beginning to set. Cassie and Liam walked together toward the school gates, tired but happy.
