Chapter 5

Lucas

Trigger warning s****l and physical abuse

“What are we going to do Alpha?” Wolf asked as soon as they entered Lucas’s office.

“Find and kill him! That’s what!” Lucas snarled.

Taking a deep calming breath, Lucas looked up at Wolf. “I am sorry friend, I am just angry with myself for letting that man get so close to my mate. I was distracted.”

Wolf walked over to Lucas and pat his shoulder. “Hey, it’s going to be ok. We are going to get the bastard. He won’t be able to hurt Luna ever again. I will protect her with my life!”

Lucas nodded, “I know you will. But I still don’t like it. I don’t want to lose anyone, you are all my family.”

“We know Alpha. Which is why you are best Alpha. You always put others first.” Lucas just looked at Wolf. He knew Wolf was right, and he also knew Wolf would die for his Luna.

“We need to assign a couple of the warriors to guard Emma, she needs to be protected at all cost. But only assign our most trusted men, and only if they want to. We shouldn’t force anyone to do something they don’t want to.” Lucas decided.

“On it Alpha.” Wolf replied

Once Wolf left to care out his orders Lucas collapsed in front of his desk. For the first time in a long time Lucas was scared. Scared of losing the love his life, even though he had just met Emma he loved her deeply. It wasn’t just because of the mate bond. He loved how she was so open and honest about everything, and she was strong.

A few moments later Wolf came back with 2 of the most trusted warriors. “Alpha, Jack and William would like the honor of protecting the Luna.”

The 2 men stood at attention. “At ease men you don’t have to be some formal in front of me. Relax.” Lucas smiled.

“Yes Alpha.” Both men relaxed. “We would be honored to protect and guard the Luna. We will die before anyone tries to hurt her.”

Lucas got up from his chair. Walking over to the men he patted their shoulders, “I know you will protect her with your lives. I just don’t like hearing it out loud. I don’t want to lose any of my pack members. But I am glad I have 2 of the best protecting my mate only went I am not with her though. I will ask Wolf to set up a schedule for you guys so that you will still be able to spend time with your friends and family. I will also double your wage, since I am pulling you from your jobs.”

William looked at Ben, “All due respect Alpha, we aren’t doing this for more money. When Beta Wolf told us the Luna was in danger all the other warriors and Ben and I were angry. No woman should be afraid for her life the way the Luna is. We all want to protect her and make sure she is safe. If it’s ok with you, we would like to take shifts guarding the Luna. Without the Luna the pack would fall apart, we all love her and if anything happens to the Luna, we will be devastated.”

Hearing those words Lucas was proud of his men and his pack. In just a short time Emma had touched all of their hearts.

Lucas was just about to praise them when he heard the words he hated and feared the most.

“Alpha there is a rogue in our territory!” One of the warriors at the border mind linked.

Lucas raced out of his office down the stairs and out the front door, he passed Emma and his mother in the process.

“Mom, keep Emma in the house.” He mind linked. Shifting into his wolf Lucas raced to the border. Once there he was shocked by what he saw. There was a woman who looked to be about 21, she was crying and curled into a ball, anytime one of the warriors would approach her she would start screaming and covering her head. There were many bruises and scars covering her body, and she looked like she was wearing a sack that did nothing to cover her body. Lucas was angry when he saw her, no one should treat a woman like that.

“Wolf, bring Emma to the west border. I need her help.” Lucas linked Wolf.

“On our way Alpha”

A minute later Emma and Wolf appeared with Ben and William following behind them. The moment Emma saw the woman she froze, shock and heartbreak showing on her face. She slowly walked over to the hysterical woman. The woman glanced up sensing someone walking to her, Emma looked shocked.

Lucas and everyone watching was shocked when the woman threw herself in Emma’a arms.

“Oh Emma, I thought you were dead. He told me you were dead!” She started crying harder.

“Sweet Kate what happened to you?” Emma asked.

“A year ago I met my mate Beta Andrew of the Shadow Moon pack, at first he was super sweet and kind I thought he loved me. But once I moved in with him I realized what kind of monster he really was. He and the unmated men in the pack would beat and r**e me every night. I was locked in the dungeon for days without food and water anytime I tried to run away. He would even force me to watch as he slept with other she wolves Last night was the only chance I had of escaping, him the Alpha and most of them men got wasted last night and he forgot to lock the door of the cage he kept me in. I was able to run the border unnoticed. I rejected my mate and the pack.”

Everyone was furious and growling by the end of her story. Emma was in tears as she held her friend, who began to cry harder. Emma looked over at Lucas, he nodded.

“Kate, what don’t you join our pack? I am the Luna, and over there is my mate Alpha Lucas all long with his Beta Wolf.”

At this Kate looked up, she looked at Lucas then glanced over at Wolf. She froze and tensed. Knowing something was wrong Emma held her tighter to comfort her.

“Mate” Wolf whispered.

Kate started to scream and cry. She couldn’t believe she had a second chance mate, she should have been happy but she was absolutely terrified. When Wolf saw her reaction he was heartbroken, but he understood why she was reacting the way she was. She just ran away from a terrible abusive mate and just found out she has another mate.

Wolf knelt where he was standing so that he was eye level with her. Gently he said “Kate, please look at me.” When she reluctantly did he continued, “I know you are scared of me because of what your last mate did. But I promise you hear and now I will never hurt you in anyway. I will not force you to be my mate if you don’t want to, if you want to reject me I won’t fight it. I already love you and want you to be happy. I will never force you to do something you don’t want to do, well unless your life is in danger. Even if you reject me, I will protect you. As I will protect my Luna.”

Wolf

As Wolf said those words he was crying. He couldn’t bear the thought of her rejecting him. But she was so scared and traumatized that he wanted her to have an out.

Wolf knew Kate was studying his face to see if he was lying or not. She knew he was telling the truth, he would keep his word. If she wanted to reject him he would accept even if it broke his heart to do so.

Seeing Kate calming down he gave her a small smile and got up. Turning to the warriors he stated. “Kate is now a member of this pack, you will protect her like you protect the Luna. I want 2 of our best female warriors guarding her at all times, who would like to volunteer?”

Jasmine and Mellissa step forward, “We will protect her with our lives Beta Wolf. No matter what.” They said.

Wolf just nodded, turning back to Emma and Kate he said, “Luna what do you think we should do for Kates living arrangements? I don’t think she will be comfortable staying on the Beta floor only with me.”

Emma could see the pain on Wolf’s face. She knew this was hard for him, just as it was hard for Kate.

“If it’s ok with Lucas, she can stay on the Alpha floor for the time being.”

“She needs you right now, so I think that is an excellent idea. Let’s all go back to the pack house now, i will ask a couple of omegas to get a room ready for her.”

Wolf walked a distance behind Kate and Emma, who were still holding each other. Wolf thought about what he would do to win his mates trust. He needed to be patient, and let her come to him. He knew it was going to be hard to stay away from her, but he had to if she was going to heal.

“Alpha, I want to kill the bastard!” Wolf linked Lucas.

“Not yet.” Lucas replied. Wolf growled, he knew he had to wait and kill them man that had hurt his mate but he was still angry about it.

Once they got to the pack house Emma took Kate to her room to help clean her up and to give her some clothes.

“Luna, once you ladies are done cleaning up, would you like to go shopping for Kate?”

Emma smiled and looked at Kate, “Would you like to go shopping Kate?”

Kate nodded her head, “Yes, I would love to go shopping.”

Wolf nodded his head, he watched as the pair made there way up the stairs, then turned and made his way to the training fields. He need to let out all his pent up rage and tension before he took Emma and Kate shopping.
