Back at his condo, Matt pulled JV aside for a minute.
“Is there any way you guys could do without Alex and I tonight?”
“That would depend on why.” Her eyes narrowed and watched him carefully while waiting for his answer. He took a deep breath and looked at the floor a moment.
“I’d like to take her out.”
“Out why?”
“Damn it, JV, are you gonna make me say it?” He looked up at her, frustrated. “I want to take her on a date. Is that all right with you?”
“Actually, yes it is. And it’s about time.” She leaned in and gave him a brief hug. “You two go ahead and go out. There’s nothing here that we can’t handle for a couple hours.”
“Thanks, sis,” he said before going in search of Alex. He found her in the kitchen standing in front of the open refrigerator. “Anything in there look good?”
