CHAPTER 18: Confusion
The Alpha King sniffed and caught a wift of Selene's scent but underneath it, coiling like a venomous serpent was something else.. something that made the wolf inside Caelen snarl and claw for control.
Nightshade and wolfsbane!
His head snapped up with every sense screaming and the world narrowed to the space behind Selene’s door. He heard it then, a sound no human ear could ever detect.. the faintest scuff of a boot on her floorboards and the almost silent agonizing creak of her window being pushed open a fraction wider.
Time stopped and thought vanished. Now there was only instinct.
With a roar that shook the hallway, Caelen threw his entire weight against her door and the wood splintered with the lock exploding inward as he burst into the room.
