“Selene… I’m really sorry.”
Beta Zane’s voice broke the quiet as they stood on the long balcony overlooking the garden.
Morning sunlight spilled onto the flowers below, painting everything gold and warm. It should have been peaceful but Zane looked like he carried the weight of ten mountains on his shoulders.
Selene breathed out slowly.
“Zane, for the thousandth time… it’s fine.”
He shook his head with his eyes full of guilt.
“No, it’s not fine. I crossed your boundaries. I broke into your room. I...” He winced, rubbing his forehead. “...I slept in your bed like a crazy person and then I confessed love you didn’t ask for. I embarrassed myself and I made you uncomfortable. I shouldn’t have.”
