Christian stood in his office, tall and rigid, the phone pressed to his ear like it was the only thing tethering him to control. The skyline of Manhattan stretched out behind him, but he didn’t look at it. His mind was far from the glittering lights of the city. “I want every detail on Dave Brunette,” he ordered coldly, voice clipped and void of emotion. “Where he’s been, who he’s talked to, what his next move is.” A pause. His head of security responded on the other end, “We’re already on it, sir. He’s been bouncing between safe houses. Seems to be avoiding any traceable communication.” Christian’s jaw clenched. “And Amy Lancaster?” “She’s proving harder to track. But we’ve got a few leads.
