Episode 3 As we walked through the park, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. What were my parents planning? And what did it have to do with me? My dad started talking about the weather, and my mom chimed in with some comments about the flowers. But I knew they were stalling. They were trying to build up to something, and I was determined to find out what it was. "So, what's going on?" I asked, trying to sound casual. "You guys seem like you're hiding something." My mom and dad exchanged a look, and then my dad cleared his throat. "We're just excited to share something with you, kiddo," he said. "But we want to do it in a special way." I raised an eyebrow. "A special way?" My mom nodded. "Yes, we're going to make it a surprise. But we want you to trust us and go along with it, okay?" I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But my curiosity got the better of me. "Okay, I'll trust you," I said finally. My parents smiled, and we continued walking through the park. As we walked, I noticed that we were heading towards a small pond. There was a boat rental place nearby, and I wondered if that had something to do with the surprise. When we reached the pond, my dad stopped and turned to me. "Okay, kiddo, it's time," he said. "Get in the boat." I looked at the boat, confused. "What boat?" My mom gestured to a small rowboat that was tied to a dock. "That one," she said. "We're going for a ride." I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But my parents were already getting into the boat, so I followed suit. As we pushed off from the dock and began to row, I felt a sense of excitement and trepidation. What were my parents planning? And where were we going? As we glided across the water, I looked around at the scenery. The park was beautiful, with trees and flowers everywhere. But I knew that my parents were up to something, and I was determined to find out what it was. Suddenly, my dad stopped rowing and looked at me with a serious expression. "Kiddo, we need to talk about something important," he said. My heart skipped a beat. What was it? And why did they need to talk about it now? "What is it?" I asked, trying to sound calm. My mom and dad exchanged a look, and then my mom spoke up. "We're moving," she said. I stared at them, shocked. "Moving? What do you mean?" My dad nodded. "We're moving to a new house, kiddo. A new town, a new school. Everything is going to be different." I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Moving? I didn't want to move. I liked my life just the way it was. But as I looked at my parents, I saw the excitement in their eyes. They were really looking forward to this, and I knew I had to be strong for them. "Okay," I said finally. "I'll try." My parents smiled, and we continued rowing across the pond. As we glided through the water, I couldn't help but wonder what the future held. And whether I was ready for it.
