“Have you had breakfast?” The alpha chooses to ignore my comment as he places his hands in his coat pockets and waits for an answer. I can see the effort he is making to seem gentle, but I know his true face. He might look “normal” but he is still an Alpha wolf, and even when he tries to seem casual, power radiates from him like cool fire, demanding obedience.
I feel both compelled to obey and a desire to flee. Struggle to resist I murmur weakly, “But I can’t afford to eat out.”
“I’m paying,” he says flatly as I open my mouth to elaborate... “I saw a nice coffee shop only a couple of blocks away. Your friend could even watch us walk there from the window.”
