Maybe it isn't such a good idea to swim now. "I can do this," I push myself forward. "You're going to be working with him side by side every day. You need to get used to being near him." I remind myself. "And this is my pool too. The Alpha will just need to learn how to share." Choosing a lane far away from his, I drop myself into the pool before I can change my mind. I fight not to gasp as the sudden sensation of cold water feels crisp along my skin. Once I start moving my body warms and I let the moment take me as I relax and all the tension of the last few days melts away as I complete lap after lap. "One more," I flip around to complete my last lap. My legs kicking and my eyes closed, I concentrate on the movement of my arms and legs through the water as I make my final stretch.
