Robyn’s POV:
“Mmmh, babe.” A high-pitched moan left my throat as Leon buried his fingers inside me, making me writhe.
My back arched off the bed, gripping his body tightly as he increased his pace. He kissed down my neck, to my throat and my breasts. I was going to put up a defense to deny this video, but then I shifted beneath him, the camera catching my face.
With a gasp, I shut off the video, slamming the laptop close.
How could he? Record me in such a vulnerable moment without consent. Goddess.
My hands shook violently as I ripped the flash drive from the port and grabbed my phone. I dialed his number, tapping my feet impatiently on the ground.
When it connected, I opened my mouth to yell, but called out to me in a condescending tone.
"Sweetheart, I assume you got my gift."
My chest rose and fell violently.
"Delete it," I choked out, gripping the phone so hard I felt I would destroy it. "Delete it right now, Leon. Stop this."
He let out a soft sigh.
"I can't do that, my sweet girl. You know what you have to do. Back away from the wedding. You still have enough time."
"I can't!" I snapped in a raised tone. "The coronation is tonight. I am standing next to the Alpha Supreme tonight, Leon. There is no backing out." I forced myself to swallow the bile rising in my throat, forcing my mind to think.
He was a leech, and leeches always wanted blood. Or cash.
"How much do you want?"
There was a brief silence between the both of us.
"What's that?" he asked, his tone shifting.
"I know about your gambling issue, Leon," I said, the fear in my chest morphing into a cold, hard anger. "I know you're desperate. So name your price. How much will it take to pay you off my back? Leave me the f**k alone, or I will tell everyone about your debts too. You chose your path when you left and love interests."
I referred back to the gory image of him f*****g his friends and mocking me.
He chuckled in a low tone, causing my skin to crawl.
"That little boy is making you fierce, my love. I like it."
“I am not your love!” I bit back. “...And f*****g give me a number,” I demanded, ignoring the twist in my stomach at the old pet name.
"Very well, then," he said carelessly. "Twenty grand will do."
"Twenty—" My voice came out high-pitched. "Are you insane? I don't just have twenty thousand dollars sitting in my purse!"
"I'm sure your billionaire Alpha wouldn't miss a fraction of his pocket change," Leon replied. "Get it done, Robyn. Before the ceremony."
"I will get you the money after the coronation," I argued fiercely, my voice dropping to an urgent hiss. "My fiancé is busy. The whole palace is locked down. I can't just ask him for a wire transfer right now."
"Fiancé," Leon repeated. "I remember when I used to be called that."
"Goodbye, Leon."
I slammed the hang-up button before he could say another word.
The phone slipped from my fingers, clattering onto the floor. I staggered backward until the edge of the mattress hit the back of my knees, and I collapsed onto the bed.
I threw a hand over my forehead, my skin burning hot against my fingers, while my other hand pressed hard against my stomach.
"It is time, Ms. Ford," a maid offered a polite bow. "The Alpha Supreme is waiting downstairs."
It had been hours of me getting prepared, and now I was fully dressed in a beautiful, flowy gown with hairpins that pricked my scalp. I gave myself one final look in the mirror before walking off with her.
When I got to the landing of the stairs, I spotted Kane waiting beneath. He was dressed in a military-like attire, heavily embroidered with the gold crest of the Thorne Nation.
As I started my descent, the sound of my heels caught his attention. His eyes went wild, scanning my entire body.
On the last stair, he took my hand, helping me to the ground.
"You look good," he said in a soft tone.
"Thanks." I forced a smile up my face.
We turned toward the doors leading to the courtyard, walking out together. My fingers trembled in his, wondering how I would tell him about Leon’s threat.
It was going to be a lot on him.
He slowed his stride slightly, his eyes narrowing as he glanced down at our joined hands. "Is there a problem?"
"No," I lied quickly, forcing my chin up just as Madam Corrine had drilled me to do.
"Okay," he replied with a brow raised.
Soon, we made it to the venue. There were reporters as usual. My heart leapt in my throat as Kane snatched me by my waist, leading me through the crowd like a were-human shield.
Finally, we made it through, and my body relaxed. My eyes swept the room before I could stop it, catching Leon’s face in the sea of swarming dignitaries.
He was standing near one of the pillared arches, a dark suit doing nothing to hide the pathetic malice radiating off him. His eyes flashed coldly at me as he held my gaze for a second before downing his drink and walking away.
I forced my feet to move as my heart rate spiked. Kane led me to the seats reserved for us in front of the hall. We sat down, the eyes of the entire Thorne elite drilling into us as the opening announcements began to echo through the sound system.
I tried to focus on the stage, tried to breathe, but the terror sat in my chest.
Not five minutes after I sat with Kane, my phone vibrated on my lap. I slipped it out to see a text from Leon.
Down the hall. Left wing. Five minutes, Robyn. Or the video goes live to the screens.
