Chapter 6 “A mission may seem routine. Yet one should always expect the unexpected.” – Beauregard the Great, Instructions for Visiting Parallel Worlds This time, I whisper the words aloud. “Take me to Rose Archer.” A loop of silver sentient appears before me. Millions of tiny particles swirl about in a two-dimensional whirlpool. Soon more sentient join the movement until a tall round plate floats the air before me. I’m in no rush, so I don’t have to punch my way through. But it’s enjoyable. I slam my fist against the reflected surface. The plate shatters into thousands of tiny fragments, revealing a different world on the other side of the void, namely a dreary and empty kitchen. After ordering my battle sentient to form body armor, I step through the portal between our two universes.
