The first rays of sunlight streamed through my window, chasing away the strange warmth I’d felt the night before. My muscles were still tense, my dreams an incoherent blur of silvery light and unfamiliar voices. Shaking off the lingering haze, I slid out of bed, determined to put the night behind me. After a quick shower, I threw on a simple outfit—jeans and a snug sweater—and headed to the kitchen. The house was quiet, the silence almost oppressive after the awkwardness of last night. I opened the fridge, letting the cold air brush my face as I scanned the contents. A little creativity later, I had two perfectly stacked sandwiches, filled to the brim with eggs, cheese, and some leftover bacon. "Breakfast of champions," I thought with a small smile, wrapping them up and grabbing my bag.
