Chapter Fifteen The Maplewood Town Public Library was a s**t hole. But at least it had windows and occasionally, some people. Leon was the head librarian in this s**t hole, an ancient, smelly decaying building in a rural, decaying county where the largest business was opioid street sales to teenagers. Leon’s library was the only sign of intelligence in a county filled with poverty and despair, where most kids didn’t graduate from high school and those who did escaped and never returned.
