Chapter Twenty The judge and Tom had hashed all this out while embroiled in a desperate battle of golf at Tom’s club out in the country where nobody would see them or know they were together. It was unlikely that anybody would see Tom anyway because he was in the woods most of the time. He was big, tall and strong and could hit the ball forever but rarely knew where it was going to land. He lost his match to the judge today with one bad swing which sent a badly topped tee shot into a ravine. He clamored into the ravine to search for his lost ball, but he heard what he thought was a rattlesnake and abandoned the search.
