Afterglow This was his favorite bar in the southern Caribbean, with a view overlooking the tiny harbor of Jost Van Dyke, a view today slightly tainted by the arrival of a small cruise ship, which cluttered things a bit but would sail away before he finished his third drink. This bar was the ugly step-cousin to the more famous bar next door, which is actually a tourist trap and gift shop that happens to include a bar, the legendary Soggy Dollar. Cruise ship passengers disgorge almost daily from their floating palaces to ride rickety pickup trucks from the harbor, sit on the beach, and drink the famous Painkiller, a coconut rum concoction quickly slurped down by lightweight, amateur drinkers who ended up barfing in the warm sand next to their lounge chairs.
