Kira's bodyguard

Chapter four

Kira woke up a little bit late because she hadn't been to bed early the previous night.

She woke up feeling refreshed and better than last night. Although her room was still quite dark because the curtain in her room was a thick one that didn't allow for light to pass through. It was after she got up from bed that she opened up the curtains and the sun's rays flashed sharply on her face. She squinted her eyes because the light was so bright, and it discomforted her a little. “Oh great, it's going to be another hot day,” she grumbled. She turned to check the time on her purple, fancy-looking standing clock, properly positioned in her bedroom. It was a few minutes past 9 o'clock, and she knew her dad would soon leave for work, so she hurriedly went into the restroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. After about five minutes, she came out of the restroom and wore her fluffy flip-flops and headed for the lounge because she knew he'd be there. “Good morning dad” Kira was right. Josh was seated on the couch but this time he wasn't dressed for work. “Good morning baby” Josh replied. “ Dad… I thought we agreed you wouldn't call me that anymore, I'm 19, and I don't think any 19-year-old would be happy being referred to as a baby,'' Kira grumbled. Josh had gotten so used to referring to Kira as ‘baby’ and she obviously wasn't having it. “Okay fine, I'll try,” Josh promised. ” Well, I spoke to Alex last night, and he told me he would be returning soon, although he didn't give me a specific date. So I would like to ask for permission to be able to receive him at the airport when he finally arrives and he also asked that I bring Sisi along ”. Kira wanted to make sure that her father approved of it to avoid any unwanted mishaps. “Alright darling, Dan will take you both to the airport when Alex arrives,” Josh assured. “Thanks daddy, but something is different, why aren't you dressed for work today?” Kira inquired. It was unlikely for Josh not to be prepared for work at that time of the day. He was a serious-minded businessman who never took his work for granted. His strict standards also applied to his business line. Just as Kira was questioning her dad, Bianca came into the lounge. “Hey sweetie, how was your night?” She greeted her daughter. “Splendid mum,” Kira replied. Kira was seemingly excited this morning and it was quite obvious. Maybe because she had spoken to Alex at length last night.“Uhm ... daddy is expecting some visitors soon, so he'd leave for work a little bit late today Hun,” Bianca was trying to get Kira to leave her father. It wasn't going to be good news for her soon. Why don't you join Maya and Ben in the dining room, they're already eating breakfast,” she instructed. “Alright then '' Kira left without asking any more questions and Bianca's mood changed immediately. She sat by her husband. “ Darling, don't you think it would be too harsh on her? She's obviously in a good mood today and if she hears about this new development, she will definitely be heartbroken. She isn't a child anymore dear, she's definitely not going to like this,” Kira's mother pleaded. Last night, Josh informed Bianca about his newest decision on how to keep Kira more protected. He had decided to get a personal bodyguard for Kira. However, Josh had his own ulterior motives as to why he had hired a personal bodyguard specifically assigned to Kira. He had been observing her lately and had come to a realization that Kira was beginning to get too nozy. He also felt that she was trying to pry into his business affairs and another reason he had was for Kira to also be carefully monitored in order for her not to be able to leave the house unannounced. Kira was definitely not going to be happy about it. “That is the point, Cupcake. Kira isn't a child anymore, so she feels she is mature enough to do things that I am always against. She's practically going against my will. Especially the fact that she leaves this house without my permission. It's disturbing, you know. All I'm doing is for her own good, honey, trust me. Josh tried to console Bianca who was now very upset. “Well, I won't be present when you finally get to break the news to her. I'm off to the mall, Dan, we leave in 5 minutes,” Bianca informed Dan. Well Josh had made up his mind and nothing was going to change it,not especially when his business identity was at risk. Just after Bianca left for the mall, a car pulled up in the garage. It was Manuel, Josh's most trusted worker. And with him was a handsome-looking young man who was about the age of 22. They were both neatly dressed in black and white suites that fitted them so well, especially the new guy. He was young but looked very capable of doing the job. They both stood by the car waiting for Josh to permit them in. Josh called Manuel and asked him to please come in. They made their way to the front door. Kira and her siblings were still in the dining room, eating slowly while they chatted. “ Sisi, Alex is coming back soon from Miami and he asked that I bring you along when coming to receive him at the airport,” Kira told Maya who was now very happy to see Alex. “I'm so excited Kira,when will he come back?” She inquired. “He didn't say the exact date Sisi but he did say soon though” she assured Maya. “Alright then,I'm ready whenever you are,” Maya and Kira both chuckled softly. Ben seemed like he was far away in another world because he barely spoke a word. “What's up Ben, what's with the unusual quietness?” Kira was concerned. “Well.. Remember Naomi? My girlfriend….she says she would like us to spend some time together but we all know that's not going to be possible. Dad would probably skin me alive on hearing this.” Ben was in love with Naomi and he could not afford to lose her because of his father's standards. He had promised her that they would spend quality time together and even assured her that his dad wouldn't mind her coming around. Ben just didn't want to be seen as a daddy's boy who didn't have a say over his own affairs. He had always bragged about living the life he wanted. Back in campus, Ben was known as the famous boy who lived a luxurious life and he didn't want to depict otherwise. Naomi was one of the hottest chics in campus, so he felt lucky to have her to himself. “Why do I feel like this love and relationship of a thing is stressful?” Kira was feeling disgusted already. She wasn't even into all this romantic stuff. Probably because she didn't really get to spend time with boys and all of that. “ You know I love Naomi so much, I must not do anything to upset her.” Ben lamented. Wait, let me get this straight, you are doing everything within your power to keep Naomi from getting angry? I thought a couple was supposed to understand each other, or you're more worried about what she might tell others on campus”. Kira let out loud laughter, making a mockery of Ben. At this time, Maya had left them both and had gone to look for Bianca around the house. “It's not funny, Kira, we both know that Naomi is lousy, and the main reason I'm trying to keep her is cause I don't want to seem like a guy who can't treat a woman properly. I mean she'll make me a laughing stock in school”. Ben frowned and was feeling worse than before. “Well, I am no relationship expert, so I don't have any words of encouragement for you Mr lover boy”. Kira said mockingly. Ben just picked on his food while Kira ate hers like someone who hadn't eaten all week. They both finished up their meals and left to join their father in the lounge.
