Amber slipped her phone back into her pocket and sighed. Derek was on his way to investigate Red Mountain, and they were anxious to hear from him. When Amber called Jake, she had stepped away from the plane. That allowed Julian, Jonah, Elise, and Joe to speak quietly near their aircraft while the nurse sent to greet them waited patiently beside the van she had brought. Amber’s friends smiled at her as she approached them.
“What did Jake say?” Elise asked.
“We are all on the same page. We take the children home even if Julian and Jonah can’t adopt all of them, others will.” Amber smiled and said, “Even if that means Jake and I adopt them and raise them in the pack house.”
