Jannelle POV
I had no idea how long I was out for. I could hear beeping and smell bleach, yuck! I could hear nurses speaking over the loudspeaker and heavy foot traffic. But none of those things woke me up and brought me back to this world. It was someone touching my hand. This warm big hand that was gently holding mine. I felt someone's lips on my skin. It was so gentle and I just wanted to stay in the moment. When I opened my eyes I didn't know who it was sitting next to my bed. He was so handsome though. Jet black hair, perfect smile, beautiful lightly tanned skin. Was he mine? No, he couldn't be. Could he? My eyes flickered a bit and I took in a deep breath. His head shot up and he looked me right in my eyes. "Jannelle! You are awake! I was so worried about you. Are you ok? Do you need anything? I'll call the Dr." Before I could answer he was running out of the room yelling for a Dr Stephens. Within seconds the room was filled with the Dr and Nurses and of course this mystery man I hadn't spoken to yet. "Miss Vasco, can you hear me? My name is Dr. Stephens. Do you know where you are?" For a moment I lost my voice and just gently shook my head no. The looks around the room told me that was not the right answer. "Miss Vasco you came in here a few hours ago by ambulance. You had fallen and hit your head. Do you remember that?" Once again despite the hopeful eyes in the room wanting me to say yes, I shook my head no. "OK, let's do some tests to see what you do remember and we will test your physical sensitivity too just to make sure there isn't any more damage. OK?" the dr asked politely, smiling. I nervously shook my head yes. "Can you feel this?" she asked as she took her pen and gently tickled my arm. I shook my head yes. "How about this?" she asked as she did the same to my other arm and both legs. I began shaking my head yes and smiling. Thank the Goddess I could feel all of that. "That's great! Now we will begin asking you some questions. If you can speak please try to do so if not just continue nodding your head. OK?" I cleared my throat and whispered OK. The Dr. smiled at me and started asking questions. Do you know your name? No. Do you know where you are? No. Do you know what day it is? No. The more questions she asked the more No's she got and I began to cry. The delicious looking man that was seated next to me when I woke up suddenly appeared again next to me and took my hand. "It's OK Jannelle you are doing great. This is just temporary. You will remember everything soon." He nodded and gave me a reassuring smile. Whoever he was I was glad he was with me. I felt a strange calming feeling when he was near. Especially if he was holding my hand. I don't know why but he felt like a safe place. He felt like home. But why couldn't I remember him?
Zack POV
When Jannelle couldn't answer any of the Dr's questions I started to become nervous. But all of my feelings were pushed to the wayside when I saw the scared look on her face. I immediately took my previous seat by her side and grabbed her hand. I told her it would be OK and that this was temporary. She would remember everything soon. But I didn't know if she believed me, I didn't know if I believed myself. What I did know was that I was going to do everything in my power to make sure she knew she was safe and help her remember who she was. She had to be OK. I can't imagine my life without her. Even if she wasn't mine.
Zack POV
After all of the questions were done and the room cleared of all the Doctors and nurses I looked at Jannelle and asked if she was hungry. She shyly shook her head yes. I asked her if she wanted to tell me what she wanted or if she just wanted me to order. "Well, since I'm not really sure what I like, could you order for me?" she replied with the saddest yet cutest look on her face. Of course I can. I know what you like. I'll go call your favorite restaurant Fat Tony's and I'll be right back. The look on her face was almost comical. "Fat Tony's?" I let out a small chuckle. Yes Fat Tony's it's your favorite Italian restaurant. Your favorite food to order from there is a Ginnocotti with extra sauce on the side. "Ok that sounds fine" she said quietly. I walked out of the room and made the call. Within 30 minutes the food arrived and we sat and ate. She was still feeling weak so I helped her cut up her food to make it easier for her. She smiled at me when she took her first bite. "This is amazing!'' She said so happy and excited. Well, I'm glad you like it. It's definitely always been your favorite. "How do we know each other?" she asked. We have known each other since we were kids. "Oh, are we friends or are we....together?" She asked with a shy look on her face. Her question caught me off guard and I choked on my pizza. "Are you OK? I'm sorry if I upset you!" No no you didn't upset me. I was just... nevermind. Yes I am fine. We have known each other a long time. We are friends. I said a little sadness in my voice. I have always wanted more with Jannelle but I never told her. I knew she was my mate but when she met Scott and immediately fell for him I thought maybe I was mistaken and even if I wasn't I would never get in the way of her happiness. Jannelle looked down at her food. I could have swore she was sad. What's wrong sweetheart? Jannelle covered her face with her tiny hands. "I'm so sorry, it's silly. I have no idea why I would even think.." her voice trailed off and I instinctively grabbed her hand. Jannelle you can tell me anything I said giving her a reassuring smile. She took a deep breath, "I guess, well, I just thought that maybe... we were together? I know it's silly and I'm so embarrassed. I'm so sorry. I just get this feeling when you are near me. I feel calmer and more relaxed and of course you are absolutely breathtaking" She said as she slapped her hands over her mouth in embarrassment. Her face started turning red and I couldn't help but to laugh at how cute she is. You feel that way when you are around me I asked. " Yes I do. I'm sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable and I would totally understand if you wanted to leave." Leave? Why would I leave? You just gave me a pretty good compliment. I think I'm beginning to blush. With that, she laughed and the tension in the room broke. Hey, do you want to watch something on TV? Your favorite game show is usually on right about now. She looked at me funny. Steve Harvey was always one of her favorite comedians and now that he was on family feud she always loved it. She couldn't help but laugh every time he said something off the wall or made slightly inappropriate innuendos. She always giggled and sometimes when she really got to laughing she snorted making me roar with laughter. You have loved game shows since we were kids. This one was your favorite because it involved families working together to win the prize. You have always been big on family I told her. She smiled at me and said "That sounds nice." Yea, it does sound nice I thought to myself.
