“Come to dinner with me, Lila. For real.”
My heart slammed against my ribs. I definitely wasn’t ready for this.

The warmth from last night’s study session still hadn’t faded by the next evening.
I’d spent all day in class trying to focus, but every time I crossed my legs, I remembered the way Jax had pulled back the second I asked him to slow down and the gentle way his thumb had stroked my cheek when he apologized.
Truthfully, I never expected him to be that sweet. This is terrible.
“Lila, you seem not to focus,” Sophie whispered. I jolted.
“Sorry, where were we now?”
“Page 157.”
“Got it.” I pretended to be focused but it wasn’t working. Jax’s face kept ringing in my ears. Family dinner? His mom? Damn it. What should I do? What should I wear?
“Drop it, girl. You seem terribly distracted.” Sophie elbowed me. And I had nothing left to hide.
“Jax’s mom invited me to a family dinner.”
“Hell no?! This soon?”
“I know, right…” I sighed. We’re just like in a romance drama where the girl should meet the boy’s parents and either get rid of or fully accepted.
“What did you say then? You agree to this disaster?”
“What could I say more?” I covered my face with the textbook. I really had no idea.
“You decided then, Lila. Hope you won’t regret.” Sophie rolled her eyes.
I knew from the very first time she didn’t agree with this setup. And the worst part, I almost forgot that this is only a fake contracted relationship while Jax kept playing so damn real I couldn’t refuse.
“Sophie… I need your help.”

By the evening, I was almost ready for the dinner disaster Sophie mentioned. But luckily, she agreed to help me change and choose the best outfit to meet Jax’s parents.
I slipped into my soft beige A-line midi skirt that fell just below my knees, pairing it with my favorite oversized cream cardigan over a tucked-in white blouse and simple ankle boots.
A light touch of tinted moisturizer, blush, mascara, and soft rosy lip tint completed the look.
“You look dazzling, girl.” Sophie praised. I smiled. Jax interrupted.
“That’s my girl,”
I almost jumped. I didn’t hear his footsteps outside our dorm but there he is.
“Keep Lila safe, big guy! Or I’m gonna kill you.” Sophie threatened but Jax only stretched his arm and pulled me closer.
“I’m gonna protect her with all my life,” he bluffed and I only laughed.
“Liar!”
“I’m not!”
And we both chuckled.
“See you soon,” I blew a kiss to Sophie and she returned it with a soft smile.
We walked into the parking lot where Jax’s truck was parked.
“I… I’m a bit nervous, Jax,” I admitted. But Jax only glanced at me with a small… genuine smile.
“Don’t worry… They’re good people. Just be you. I’ll be right there the whole time.”
I nodded although my pulse still quickened.
We drove for about an hour before arriving at Jax’s parents’ house. I meant… mansion!
His parents’ mansion was huge and modern, all glass walls and warm golden lights glowing against the evening sky.
The driveway alone looked like it could fit ten cars!
The second we walked in, his mom pulled me into a warm… tight hug.
“Lila! It’s so nice to finally meet the girl who’s been making my son smile in every picture.” She said.
I only smiled and reacted nicely.
His dad shook my hand with a firm but kind grip. They both seemed genuinely happy Jax had brought someone home.
I sat stiffly at the long dining table, hands folded in my lap, smiling politely while his mom asked about my classes and his dad talked hockey stats.
Jax sat right beside me with his thigh pressed warmly against mine under the table.
Everything was fine until halfway through the main course.
Jax’s hand suddenly slid onto my thigh.
I froze with my fork paused mid-air. His palm was warm through my skirt, fingers splayed wide but gentle.
He gave a soft squeeze, then started tracing slow, lazy circles with his thumb, right on the sensitive inside seam.
I stayed perfectly still, smiling at his mother as she asked about my major.
“English literature,” I answered with a steady voice even though heat was already flooding between my legs. “I want to be a writer someday.”
Jax’s thumb moved higher, stroking in teasing patterns that made my core clench.
I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from gasping. My thighs pressed together on instinct, but it only trapped his hand closer, pressing the seam of my skirt right against my c**t.
“You’re doing so good,” he murmured under his breath. Jax’s voice was warm, almost proud. “Sitting here all sweet and polite… I can’t stop thinking about how lucky I am.”
Fresh warmth spread through me. My n*****s tightened painfully against my bra under the thick cardigan.
“Lila, honey, are you alright?” his mom asked, tilting her head. “You look a little flushed.”
I forced a smile. I wanted to scream that his son was such a bastard but nothing came out of my mouth. “The food … is … delicious, Mrs. Harlan. Really… Thank … you.”
Jax’s fingers pressed firmer, stroking slow and deliberate now, right over the seam that rubbed my swollen c**t with every tiny movement.
I barely spoke right.
Now, it’s getting worse.
I was throbbing. Aching. So wet I could feel it starting to soak through my panties. My hips wanted to rock forward so badly it hurt, but I stayed stiff and polite, nodding at everything his dad said about the upcoming championship game.
Under the table, Jax’s hand slid higher, cupping me fully through my skirt. A tiny, mortified whimper almost escaped me. I turned it into a soft cough, clutching my cardigan sleeve with white-knuckled fingers.
Jax leaned over like he was reaching for the pepper and whispered hot against my ear, “You’re doing so good, baby. I can feel how much you want this… but only if you want it.”
My thighs trembled. Heat pulsed so hard between my legs I had to bite my lip to stay quiet. I stayed completely stiff on the outside, but inside I was melting, aching, fighting the desperate urge to squirm and moan.
His dad asked me something about my brother. I answered in a small, shaky voice, trying to focus, but Jax’s fingers kept stroking, pressing just hard enough to make my mind blown.
By the time dessert came, I was a mess. My panties were soaked. My n*****s were aching. My thighs were trembling under the table while I smiled sweetly and told his parents how lucky I felt to be with their son.
Jax’s hand finally stilled, but he left it there, warm and possessive, cupping me like he owned that ache.
When we finally stood up to leave, my legs were shaky. His mom hugged me again. “You’re such a sweet girl, Lila. We’re so glad Jax found you.”
I smiled politely and responded nicely. “I’m lucky to have found him too.”
The second we were back in his truck, I let out a shaky breath and pressed my thighs together hard, trying to ease the relentless throb he’d left behind.
Jax started the engine, then turned to me with soft eyes. “You were incredible in there. All stiff and shy while I teased you. I couldn’t stop thinking about how lucky I am that this isn’t fake anymore.”
“You’re impossible, Jax Harlan!” I protested. But he only giggled.
“I’m just serving my sweet girlfriend, is that too much?”
I breathed hard. He’s Jax. And he’s a hungry man that never gets enough to ruin me.
The truck kept moving. By the time we reached the traffic light, I couldn’t stop thinking about the way Jax reacted to the scholarship back then.
“Why are you fighting so hard for that scholarship? Your family lives in a mansion. You could probably buy your way onto any team you wanted.”
He was quiet for a long moment. His fingers tapping the steering wheel. Then he let out a slow breath.
“Because the scholarship is my ticket to NYU.”
“You can get into NYU without any scholarship, I suppose.”
“That’s not what I want, Lila. My dream has always been to make it as a world pro hockey athlete on my own merit.” He tightened his grip until his knuckles turned white.
“Whoa… that’s… new,” I mumbled. But Jax only stepped on the gas and kept driving.
“Money can buy a lot of things… but it can’t buy the respect of earning your spot. My dad’s connections would get me anywhere, but I don’t want to be the spoiled bastard who rides his father’s wealth to the top.”
I froze for one second. I never thought Jax would be so mature without anyone knowing.
“I want to prove I can do it myself. Get away from all that.”
I stared at him, something warm and soft blooming in my chest. The arrogant hockey captain who blackmailed me suddenly looked… real. Earned. Dignified in a way I hadn’t expected.
“You’re not what I thought you were,” I whispered.
