Chapter 5: Confrontation

1409 Words
James watched on as these two beings fought for their lives. It was hard to discern what they even were at this point, one was clearly a woman but she had bright white cat ears on her head and a long bushy tail trailing behind her. Her entire body including these strange additional accessories were dyed red with blood, with only a few various spots being clear of anything. She was currently wearing a full battle uniform as James had seen it earlier, although James couldn't actually see it as she was moving like a blur to his vision. The other fighter was wearing a dark red and black robe with a skull covering his head. They were both moving incredibly fast, with sparks of lightning flashing out every so often. James stood there dumbfounded for several minutes, just staring at the vicious scene unfolding before him, a fight to the death. He had considered cowering or hiding, but he wouldn't be able to outrun them at all, they could kill him with a single flick of their wrists, he would die in an instant. James could only watch and fear, as these two amorphous blobs of colour collided repeatedly and tore each other apart. He was horrified at the gore, but he was mesmerised all the same by the realness of the fight. They weren't actors, this wasn't TV, this was a battle. A battle that one of them wouldn't return from. [outstanding, will I ever get that strong?] As the powerless man in a suit stood at the side, he suddenly felt a huge gust, similar to the one from the cave, flying past him. He tried to look only to feel a sharp knife resting on his throat and the words "don't move Yuso" groaned into his ear by a deep growly voice. James stood there powerless, just watching the fight as he had done before, except now he was surely going to die alongside the defeated fighter like a sacrificial lamb, he will die alongside the battle. James couldn't do anything, even if he could use his telekinesis, using that against someone of their strength would surely be futile. He waited for what felt like an hour, but that passed in only minutes until one of the fighters lay dead on the ground. The cat woman had won, but when James expected to be killed alongside, and used as magic material, the woman looked his way, with an anger in her eyes that could be physically felt within the air. [She was looking at me, she's going to kill me?!] "Not just yet she's not" The growly knife wielder replied to his anxious thoughts. [HE CAN READ MINDS!! UGH DONT THINK OF EMBARRASING THINGS, PINK FLUFFY UNICORNS DANCING ON RAINBOWS! PINK FLUFFY UNICORNS DA-] James continued his mental assault on his thoughts, and succeeded in both calming and distracting himself from the knife inches from his throat. Meanwhile a pool of blood slowly leaked from the dead fighter, and the woman walked towards the body. Her boots stepped into the bloody remains without hesitation, she was covered in too much blood to care anyway. She slowly bent down to the corpse she had recently created and took off its mask, James peaked through his shut eyes once the deathly stare subsided, only to see a human being's face. [That wasn't a monster, that was a person. They had a family! What have I gotten myself into!?] "You've finally stopped that ignorant song I see." The grainy man replied once again. The woman was still searching the body for something until she pulled a small orb from inside his mask. "You should know that I don't know that guy Norida, since you're a Telepath." The woman spoke with a certain arrogance that clearly showed her opinion. The man responded in tune almost immediately however, as if unconvinced by her remark. "That may be so, but what if I were to tell you he was a Yuso?" "You Jest! That wouldn't even matter to me anyway, A stupid Wuli is none of my business!" "No you misunderstand me, I don't mean he is weak, I mean he's a Chosen." James stood here, he had no idea what any of these terms meant, but being "Chosen" somehow meant something to the Cat girl. [Am I supposed to be the Catgirl's saviour or something? WHY AM I THE CHOSEN ONE!] "You stupid man, you think too simplemindedly." The knife at his neck loosened as the words came out of the grainy voice behind him. James looked to the woman once more, it seemed like she would have to be his saviour, as for some reason she needed him. "How do I know he is who you say he is?" "Aren't his energy levels enough? He has less power than a 10 year old. DOES HE LOOK 10 TO YOU!" The two incomprehensively strong beings were arguing over his life. It was as if he were a simple dog in front of two Mammoths. "I'll make you a deal. You hand over that power stone and I give you the human." "And if he isn't who you say he is? what if he's a high level hiding his power that's conspiring with you?" "No human mercenary would agree to be taken by a Maoren. And no member of Akuma would show their living face to the Bai clan. Isn't that proof enough?" James was once again dumbfounded by the Fantasy words bombarding his ears, he was truly in another world. "You can kill him." Just when he least expected it the "member of the Bye clan" offered his life to the s*******r. "AHAHAHAHA!!! YOU'D LOSE YOUR ONLY CHANCE AT REVIVING YOUR FAMILY TO KILL ME!" The man was going wild, he had clearly gone insane long ago. There was no longer any hope of his life. [I will die here. This was the second near death experience within 24 hours of coming here and I will finally be killed. I am so weak.] But just at that moment the woman became a blur, the knife came close to his throat, cutting the first few layers of skin like butter, James' blood spread through the blade edge slowly as the woman gradually came closer, but she was too slow. It was at this moment that James body moved on it's own yet again, he twisted his head at just the right angle for the blade to miss his artery. His legs bent down in preparation to jump backwards into the knifeman. His arms moved faster than the man and grabbed the knife, slowing down its cut. Within a second, James had escaped from the knife wielder, who he could now see was wearing the same garment as the corpse on the floor. The woman finally got close enough but just before she could reach him, the wind picked up. Powerful gusts of wind flew in all directions, pushing James back into the ground as his still floating blood was dispersed into the surroundings. [Where did they go?] James had lost sight of them. The powerful mini tornado subsided quickly to reveal air standing in the place the man was in before. James was suddenly overcome by emotion, relief that there was no knife at his neck, fear that he was unaware where they had vanished to, excitement at the fact his body moved on its own to escape, even joy at the mild thought that the catgirl would protect him. James was still calming down from him adrenaline rush and conflicting emotions when he heard a voice behind him. "Are you really a chosen one?" [Its her!] He turned to face her, to see her holding a decapitated head, still within the mask in her left hand. Despite being terrified and disgusted at the sight before him he had to answer "I don't know maybe?" "WHERE DID YOU COME FROM!" "Earth! EARTH! I COME FROM THE PLANET EARTH! Please don't hurt me!" The lady seemed suddenly calmed and inspired at the chaotic and scared words coming from James' mouth. "So it's true. You're really a translocated." "I Guess?" "How much do you know about Asuri?" "I've heard of this Ruler guy but..." After the quick exchange there was an obviously dumbfounded and disappointed look on the woman's face. "Sigh, My names Sharee, I'm a Maoren, you have so much to learn."
