Episode 3 The Stranger's Name

The street felt colder now. Kai straightened slowly, still catching his breath. The adrenaline was fading, leaving behind a heavy silence. The pendant rested in his palm, warm and strangely alive. "You going to tell me what's happening?" Kai asked. The stranger hesitated, then lowered his hood slightly. Sharp features emerged under the dim streetlight. His eyes were calm, but there was something guarded in them. "Call me Ren." Kai nodded slowly. "Alright, Ren. Why were those things trying to kill me?" Ren glanced at the pendant. "Because that isn't just a pendant." Kai frowned. "Then what is it?" Before Ren could answer, footsteps echoed behind them. Both turned instantly. A girl leaned casually against the wall, arms crossed, watching them with amusement. Her dark hair fell loosely over her shoulders, and her expression suggested she'd been there for a while. "Nice trick back there," she said. Kai blinked. "You were following us?" "Watching," she corrected. Ren stepped slightly in front of Kai. "Why?" She shrugged. "Because something interesting finally happened." Kai sighed. "Great. Another mysterious person." She pushed off the wall and walked toward them confidently. "I'm Mira." Ren didn't look convinced. "And you want what?" Mira glanced at the pendant. "That thing just attracted shadow hunters. That means something big is happening." Kai folded his arms. "And?" She smiled slightly. "And I want in." Ren shook his head. "No." Mira smirked. "Not asking." Suddenly, she stepped closer — fast. Her hand shot toward the pendant. Kai reacted instantly, grabbing her wrist. "Nice try." She laughed quietly. "Relax. Just testing." Ren sighed. "This is going to get complicated." Kai looked between them. Something told him she wasn't leaving. And somehow, that worried him more than the hunters.
