The wait was excruciating with my skin buzzing and sight compromised. But I could hear the shower going on in the bathroom and more than that I heard the silence when the shower eventually stopped. And as I anticipated his return, the anticipation turned out to be something I wasn’t prepared for, the wait left me feeling adrift and lost.
