I woke with my head pounding. I groaned and rolled over, coughing. I was on my back in the middle of a field close to some small mountain ridges.
Where the hell was I? How long had I been out here? I felt like some time had passed but I just couldn’t sense how much. I tried slowly sitting up.
The sun was high in the sky. I brought my hands up to shield my eyes and look around. I was trying to see if anything looked familiar or reminded me of home.
Home. Mom.
I burst into tears as my memories came flooding into the forefront of my mind. We’d been taken by the council. When I’d lost control and summoned the elements she’d been in the room. The room I made collapse. How could I just fly away and leave her?! I screamed my utter heartache into the air. Where was she?
