Where the Goddess Hid Her

CHAPTER SIX Roseline POV The forest swayed. The rain blurred into streaks of silver, and the world tilted beneath my feet. My hands, still faintly glowing, shook uncontrollably. The power that burst out of me moments ago was fading… draining… taking every ounce of my strength with it. My knees buckled. “Roseline!” Kael’s voice cracked through the storm. I stumbled backward, clutching my chest as a sharp pain tore through me. My lungs locked. I gasped, choking on air that refused to fill my body. Everything grew distant. Muted. Like I was sinking underwater. My wolf whimpered weakly. “Too much power… too fast… we’re not ready…” I tried to speak, but my tongue felt heavy. My vision darkened at the edges. Kael took a step toward me, eyes wide with something I couldn’t name, fear? Regret? Confusion? “Don’t touch her, Alpha!” a warrior shouted. “She’s unstable, look at her aura!” Aura? What was happening to me? Another warrior stepped closer, shielding Kael. “Alpha, we don’t know what she is" Kael’s voice snapped with authority. “Move.” But before his hand could reach me My body gave out completely. I collapsed. The last thing I saw was Kael’s face twisting—rage and panic clashing in his eyes—as the world vanished into blackness. --- Darkness. Soft. Deep. Endless. Then... A faint hum. Warm… gentle… ancient. Something touched my forehead. Not a hand. A presence. I opened my eyes . And gasped. I was no longer in the forest. No longer in the storm. No longer anywhere familiar. I lay on a circular stone slab glowing with faint silver runes. Light shimmered beneath me like moonwater flowing in patterns I didn’t understand. The room around me was vast, carved from pale stone, lit by floating orbs of silvery light. Symbols covered the walls, symbols I had never seen, yet they pulsed warmly, as if greeting me. I sat up slowly, dizzy. “Where… am I?” My voice echoed softly. A breeze brushed my cheek, warm, floral, comforting, carrying a scent I recognized from childhood prayers: Moonlilies. My heartbeat quickened. This was holy ground. No… more than that. This was a place no ordinary wolf was ever meant to enter. A soft voice drifted from behind me, ancient and melodic. “You should not have awoken so soon.” I turned. My breath stopped. A woman stood in the doorway, tall, graceful, barefoot. Her hair flowed like silver silk down her back. Her eyes glowed like the moon itself, soft but impossibly bright. My wolf dropped into a bow inside me. “Goddess.” The Moon Goddess. I fell to my knees instantly. “My lady—ple—please forgive..." She raised a hand gently. “Stand, child. You have no sins here.” Her voice was soothing, yet it carried the weight of centuries. I stood shakily, tears burning behind my eyes. “Why… why am I here?” I whispered. “Why did you let this happen to me? Why did you let him reject me?” The goddess walked toward me, her expression soft. “You were never meant to be Luna to Alpha Kael.” My heart cracked again. “But he’s my mate.” “No,” she said gently. “He was the bond the world expected… but not the bond destiny requires.” I stared at her, confused, heartbroken. “What does that mean?” She reached out and touched my shoulder. My skin burned, warm, electric, filled with moonlight. Images flashed through my mind: A kingdom burning Wolves bowing to a silver crown A child wrapped in moonfire A prophecy marked in ancient ink A dark force rising A girl—me—glowing with power I gasped. The goddess stepped back. “Your path is greater than the humiliation you suffered.” I shook my head, trembling. “I’m no one. I’m weak. A cursed omega..” “You are not cursed,” she said firmly. “You are chosen.” Something cracked inside me. A new ache. A new fire. The goddess continued: “The night you were born, a star split the sky. You were marked with moonfire the first in seven centuries. A power lost to our kind. Hidden inside you… until your pain forced it awake.” I stared at my trembling hands, remembering the blinding light. “I… did that?” “Yes.” “But why now? Why did the rogues know about me?” Her eyes dimmed with sorrow. “Because someone betrayed you.” My stomach twisted. “Who?” I whispered. She didn’t answer. Instead, she looked toward the glowing doorway. “The Alpha approaches.” My breath hitched. “What? He’s..." Before I could finish, the goddess raised her hand. The runes around the room brightened. A doorway of silver light opened, And through it, I saw Kael. Soaking wet from the storm. Mud on his skin. Chest rising and falling violently. Beta guards behind him. His eyes scanned the sacred chamber, Until they landed on me. His breath stopped. “Roseline…?” he whispered. He stepped toward the light, But the goddess snapped her fingers. A barrier of silver fire burst up between us. Kael snarled, his wolf pushing through his voice. “Let me in.” The goddess’s voice echoed like thunder: “Alpha Kael of the Silver Band clan… You are not worthy to step into her sanctuary.” Kael stiffened, shock tearing through him. He opened his mouth to protest, But the goddess spoke again, her voice final: “She is not yours.” Kael’s eyes widened. My heart pounded. And the goddess looked at me. “Child, prepare yourself. Your true fate begins now.”
