Chapter 26Cassie waking from her drugged state continued to feel woozy but was gradually beginning to feel better, although she complained of nausea. Anton suggested brusquely to Sarony that now they had arrived home he could leave. He was forced to admit that he was grateful for what Sarony did, for saving his daughter from the clutches of those creatures and that thing, whatever it was, but now he could go about his business and leave them in peace. Leaning his athletic frame against the car Sarony lit a cigarette; said nothing momentarily. Cassie clutched the sleeve of her father’s jacket.
“Please Daddy, if it wasn’t for John we would both be dead by now. I don’t want to lose him again.”
