Chapter 14Victoria remained inordinately pale and ashen and Anton was more than a little concerned about her. He had collected her from her office and taken her home. He had expected to find his daughter on reception and her absence disturbed him. When he enquired of his wife where Cassie was Victoria, passing a hand across her brow as if she were about to collapse again, informed him that she must still be on her lunch break. “But it’s after two,” he remonstrated, but Victoria seemed not to hear him.
