Chapter 20Cassie allowed herself to be taken, still blindfolded, by the two men. The broad shouldered guy with the brash tie insisted she call him Sammy cos it ‘sounded more friendly like’. She deduced he was the one to help her ascend a flight of steps which she could tell were stone by the sound they made under her sandals. She counted them. There were ten in all. Sammy had warned her to ‘mind out’ because the steps were old and badly worn. When she shivered again the other man, who whom she’d only partially glimpsed before the blindfold was wrapped about her eyes, urged her not to be afraid, yet he was the one with his softly spoken voice and gentlemanly manner that she feared the most.
