MEETS THE PARENTS

CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Emily had been dating Ryan for a few months, and things were getting serious. Ryan had been hinting that it was time for her to meet his parents.

At first, Emily was nervous. She had heard stories about Ryan's family being traditional and conservative. What if they didn't approve of her?

Ryan sensed Emily's anxiety and reassured her. "Don't worry, they'll love you," he said. "Just be yourself."

The day of the meeting arrived, and Emily was a bundle of nerves. Ryan picked her up from her apartment, and they drove to his parents' house.

As they walked up the path, Emily could feel her heart pounding. Ryan took her hand and gave it a squeeze.

"Relax," he whispered. "It'll be fine."

Ryan's parents, Mark and Sarah, greeted them warmly. Emily was surprised by how welcoming they were.

As they sat down for dinner, Emily couldn't help but notice the curious glances from Ryan's parents. She tried to make conversation, but she could feel herself getting more and more flustered.

Just when Emily thought things couldn't get any worse, Ryan's mom asked her about her career plans. Emily hesitated, feeling like she was being grilled.

Ryan jumped in, sensing Emily's discomfort. "Mom, Emily's still figuring things out," he said. "She's got plenty of time."

Mark and Sarah exchanged a knowing glance, and Emily felt a surge of gratitude toward Ryan.

As the evening drew to a close, Emily realized that she had been worried for nothing. Ryan's parents were kind and understanding, and they seemed to genuinely like her.

As they drove back to Emily's apartment, Ryan turned to her with a smile. "So, what did you think?" he asked.

Emily laughed, feeling relieved. "I think I survived," she said.

Ryan chuckled. "I told you it would be fine."

Emily leaned over and kissed him. "Thanks for being there for me," she said.

Ryan wrapped his arms around her. "Always," he replied.
