The moonlight spilled through the crystal-paneled windows of the den, illuminating the chamber in soft silver. I stared at the glowing walls, the silence pressing heavy on my chest. I tried to recall the exact moment things shattered between us, to pinpoint where Steven’s decision to seal me in here could possibly feel reasonable.
I let out a shaky breath, testing the barrier with a flicker of my golden healing energy. The attempt was weak—pathetic, really. It bounced back and disappeared as though I hadn't tried at all.
