Alexa's Pov "Listen, I really dislike being bossed around, alright? And honestly, I like you even less. I'm not interested in Akila, so just leave me be." She scoffed and stood up, marching inside. I grunted under my breath, raising my drink to my lips just as I heard someone else step outside. "Hey there, beautiful." A slurred voice called out. Suddenly, the thought of staying in comfort didn’t seem so bad. I glanced over to find a guy eyeing me up and down. As I stood to head back inside, the guy blocked my path, grabbing my wrist. "Not so quick, sweetheart." He purred, pushing me back and away from the door. I stumbled in my heels, ready to shout, but he covered my mouth with his hand. "Be quiet," he commanded, forcefully pushing me against the wall. My heart raced, and every hair on my body stood on end. I attempted to wriggle free and fight back, but he pressed his entire body against me. I screamed into his hand, but only a faint sound escaped. He merely chuckled, removing his hand to press his wet, sloppy lips against mine. I groaned, trying to bite his lips, and when I finally succeeded, I was met with a sharp slap across the cheek. The impact left me momentarily stunned into silence. A whimper escaped me as he groped my chest, and a single tear rolled down my face. "Get off me," I stammered, struggling to push him away. He narrowed his eyes and cursed at me, his hand sliding down my body to unzip his jeans. Panic surged through me; I needed to escape. More tears fell as I heard the zipper slide down. I began to hit his chest, but he just laughed, lifting the hem of my dress. My weak attempts to pull it back down were futile as he thrust his pelvis against mine. "Please don’t," I whispered, struggling to speak through my panicked breaths. "This isn’t going to hurt, baby, just enjoy the ride," he slurred. The stench of alcohol wafted from his breath, enveloping my senses as I tried to escape from him. When he began to lower the waistband of his jeans, I thrashed about, frantic to break free from his hold. More tears streamed down my cheeks, soaking my entire face. Almost as swiftly as he had come, the weight was lifted from me, and I heard voices. As I slid down the wall to the floor, more tears flowed. "Touch her again and you won’t live to see tomorrow." I couldn’t see who was there; my eyes were too blurred with tears, but I recognized the voice and all I wanted was to throw my arms around him and hold him tight. Michael had not left my side since the incident, nor had Pascal. In contrast, Akila had beaten the guy to a pulp, and I hadn't seen him since. Steve cleared the kitchen, giving me space to gather myself. Everyone had come together to support me, even Comfort, though I suspected she was just there to see Akila. He wasn't even present, and she was merely earning the label of 'desperate'. "Well, just look at what she's wearing. She was asking for it," Comfort said, glaring directly at me. "I would really like to understand what your issue with me is," I shot back, narrowing my eyes at her. Steve shook his head as he approached her. "The fact that you believe you can just waltz in here and take whatever you want," she shouted, throwing her hands up and stiffening when Steve placed a hand on her shoulder. "Yep, that's exactly it. Living with an obnoxious jerk and almost getting raped at a party is precisely what I desire," I nearly growled, and I heard a laugh coming from the doorway. "I'm wounded. Truly, I am," Akila mocked, placing his hand on his chest. Instead of saying anything more, I slumped back against the cool tile and rested my head on Michael's shoulder. Essel had remained silent until now, and she finally cleared her throat. "I recommend that if you have no concern for Alex's safety, you should leave because I truly don't want to hear any more of your meaningless nonsense," she responded calmly, casting a cool glance at Comfort. Comfort merely sniffed and pivoted on her heel, getting ready to take Akila's hand. "Let's go, babe," she whispered loud enough for everyone to hear. Akila didn't look at her; he kept his gaze fixed on me, remaining where he was. "I'll catch up with you outside in a few minutes," he said, leaning down to gently nibble on her earlobe. His eyes stayed locked on mine, prompting me to roll my eyes and exhale deeply. Comfort let out a soft moan before exiting the room, not bothering to glance back at any of us. "She can be a little... hot-headed," Steve confessed, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. "You don't have to tell me that," I replied with a sigh. "Who was that guy?" Akila inquired, finally addressing us since the incident. "I have no idea, you tell me. You knocked all his teeth out," Pascal shot back angrily. I frowned and gently placed my hand on his forearm to soothe him. I wasn't sure why he was so upset, but I preferred the calm and composed version of Pascal. "Thank you, all of you," I said, looking directly at Akila. Despite my disdain for him, he had done me a huge favor, and I felt a strange sense of obligation. Dismissing my thoughts with a scoff, I pushed them aside just in time to see Akila give me a genuine smile. A real smile. Then he vanished back through the door for his 'nightly entertainment.' I rolled my eyes and decided it was time to head to the restroom. I opened a door and walked into a corridor, only making it a few doors down when I felt a hand on my arm, pulling me back. I collided directly with a solid chest, and when I looked up, I found myself gazing at Akila. He pressed his lips softly against mine, and I responded by pushing back a bit more forcefully, parting my lips to let him in before he withdrew. "I need to ask you for a favor," he exhaled, keeping his body pressed against mine. "Every favor comes with a cost," I replied with a smirk, and he rolled his eyes as he guided us into one of the rooms. "I’ll pay whatever it takes, but I need your assistance."
