I suddenly missed him. If he were here, he could hug me and let me cry myself to sleep, even if I ruined his shirt, he'd just pat my back gently, but he wasn’t here, he could never be here. I cried about myself, my brother’s death, my life, friends, and family, but by the time we were to leave, I was apparently still not over it. I couldn’t control it, couldn’t keep my thoughts in one place, and I swear that I went mad more than twice before leaving for France, and I really hoped Paris treats me better. I’m tired, really, really really tired of all these judging hypocrites in society. Did I have the confidence to really defy the rules and norms? No, I didn’t. “Are you okay?” Miss Séverine asked with worry as she took in my pale complexion and thinner body compared to the day of the graduation. “Yes ma’am,” ‘cause what else could I say? That I wasn’t? That my family abandoned me? What else? “Alright, let’s go,” she replied and the sight before me made me forget about any heartache. The private jet was sleek black and looked so cool, even the inside of the jet screamed ‘money’ rather than being ostentatious. The leather alone looked like they could buy my house, the lighting was soft, and I was guided into the jet by Miss Séverine. The only thing that could steal my attention besides beautiful girls was definitely money and luxury and probably a pilot, and the jet and the silhouette of those in the cockpit from what I could see was literally giving the all-round satisfaction. How sweet. But those memories flooded back into my head and my shoulders drooped as I sat on one spot and damn! It was so soft. I was in between heaven and bliss, trust me to pick a better option. Sleep. Well... Till we got to Paris. Others, on their first time on a plane were either sick from motion sickness or admiring the night sky or taking pictures or probably watch a movie but I was different. I was a sleepy scholar. The blinding light from the airport tarmac was a stark contrast to the sky's darkness that fell as a shadow over the runway. “Welcome to Paris.” Those were the very words that made me finally realize that this was a reality. Miss Séverine was accompanied by guards, then a maid helped her put on a coat. She looked formidable, no, she was formidable . Miss Séverine stretched out her long, slender hand towards me, and I was a bit shy. Who wouldn’t be? I was into girls, for crying out loud. My internal alarm was in shrieking mode
