Chapter Nine: Hope

240 Words
It was the first hope the couple had in years. Their baby was alive. The orb was still gray, however, for a minute there had been a light-yellow glow. Then it had been purple and then back to gray. It seemed like gray meant there was no true feelings. But the fluctuation in color had given the couple hope that maybe their daughter was okay. The oddity that they couldn’t get passed is why hadn’t they felt the pull to their daughter yet. They had found out that when blood relation is in the same ocean at the same time then there is a pull, a bond. However, the couple had never felt that pull towards their daughter no matter how often they spent time in the ocean. So, either she had never been in the ocean, she wasn’t in the ocean at the same times, or she was so far away she was no longer at the same ocean. That last thought was so devastating they tried not to think about it. If it was a matter of circumstance then circumstance can always change. Timing can always align if it’s worked for. However, being around separate oceans cannot be changed that easily. There would be no way to pinpoint which ocean she would be near if she is around an ocean at all. They couldn’t give up all hope though. One day, hopefully soon, they would find their daughter.
